Rear parking assist sensor

My rear sensor quit working. When I put the truck in reverse the light on the sensor off switch comes on, stays on, until I hit it several times then it'll go off. No beeps at any time.

It used to work very well and I got used to it but don't want to pay several hundred dollars to get it fixed. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Re: Rear parking assist sensor

Dave, I had a similar problem with mine...I had an extended warranty on mine so I sent it to the dealer to get looked at. I HATE the dealer but I figured I would use my warranty. They found one of the four sensors was bad. The two center sensors are different than the two outer ones. They have a scanner to check out the entire system to find the problem.

Good Luck,
Brent.

Re: Rear parking assist sensor

My 01 has always worked flawlessly, but with my 03, as soon as I put it in reverse, it just makes the solid beap sound the entire time. Maybe I'll take it in for that check of the sensors. I'm off my warranty, did they say what the repairs would have cost?

Related issue: On the 03, I was going to replace the black rear bumper with a chrome one. Do I need to find an 03 bumper or are they all the same? I will say the beap tone on the 03 sounds different from the 01, the 03 seems to have two tones - one higher one lower - but maybe that's unrelated to the bumper itself.
