Rear Speakers not working

My mother just bought a 02 Excursion Limited Ultimate and the rear speakers do not work at all. Rear controlls also do not work. Goes to the dealer this morning. Any ideas? I'm thinking rear system not plugged into stereo since nothing back there works.

thanks in advance.

Dave

P.S. The thing is awsome.

Re: Rear Speakers not working

Since I'm on my 3rd radio waiting for my fourth one I have gotten to know my local ford radio warranty guy.

He said that even though the radios from an Excursion/SuperDuty/Mustang etc. look alike, they are different.

He said that a radio for a Mustang won't work in an Excursion. I assume that the Excursion radios are "special" since we have 6 speakers instead of 4.

Re: Rear Speakers not working

you press radio presets #3 and 5 together, and a lil set of headphones appear, this turns the rear controls on.

Any ideas? Take it to the dealer. It's brand new, it's under warranty, the dealer gets paid by Ford to fix the problem. You know that they don't want our armchair diagnosis, nor should they need one. I'm slowly getting better (and my wife is being forced to learn from me) that there's no reason to diagnose anything that I'm not going to do on my own.

Now, for those persnickety repairs that the dealer claims are "no problem found", you may need to provide evidence to support your claim. But that's another story.
