Rear washer

Anyone else having a problem with their rear washer leaking fluid down the back of the doors when not in use? Never use the rear washer, yet I have a small trail running down the door. How can I cap, or plug the line?

Re: Rear washer

It is on the outside as if it is slowly flowing from the tip. It probably is no more than 10-15ml a week, but just enough to leave an ugly stain down the black "clean" door.

Re: Rear washer

Do you park on an uphill incline?

Enough to put the tank higher than the back nozzle?

That is about the only way I can see it happening.

Just my thoughts

Re: Rear washer

Nope, truck is either parked in the garage or parking deck at wifeys office. I'm going to tear into it this weekend, worse case I'll just plug it off seeing as how I never use it. Just bugs me having a clean truck with a water mark down the back all the time.

Re: Rear washer

Try one more thing

Is the tank vented? it should be, but are they?

If you are just lucky enough to have one that is all sealed up heating during the day could do this

Try leaving the cap off for a day or two and see what happens

Just a straw grasping thought but give it a shot

Re: Rear washer

P1xV1/T1=P2xV2/T2

Good thought if the tank is close to full.

Like Bruce said, leave the cap off on let the tank stay at half full/empty and see what happens.

Re: Rear washer

Close to empty could be worse
Air expands a lot more than liquid on temp rise.

Re: Rear washer

True - but liquid is not compressiable, air is very compressiable.

Re: Rear washer

Well guys whenever Murphy can kick in he does Want the washer to leak, it won't. Been watching it for over three weeks and nothing. Thinking like suggested might be a reaction to heat during the coarse of the day causing expansion.
