I had my X parked out in the intense Texas sun and the rear driver side door glass shattered. It was pushing 100 that day and it happened about 2 pm. Anyone else had this happen?

No I have not neighbor, but I have always left about an 1\8" opening on at least one window for years for this reason. I always put Vent Visors on the windows so ran is not a problem. Man sure sorry to heare that .

I sympathize. My 11 y.o. shut my rear crew cab door and the window shattered. I went to the glass shop and they informed me the replacement would be $1140. After the sticker shock abated, I went to the Ford dealer who was very accomodating and covered it under warranty.
I suspect our rear windows cost the same or more. I hope you have insurance or warranty coverage. I would be curious as to the cost of the window. Perhaps you can post?
This happened about 2:30 on Monday afternoon. No dealer was willing to try to fix it before Tuesday. They also indicated that it would be very unlikely to be covered under warranty, even though I only had 2K miles on it at the time. Their point was that there was no way to prove that it wasn't an attempted break-in and that Ford had denied similar claims in the past. They estimated a replacement cost of over $1,000. I found an independent glass shop who not only would fix it that afternoon, but only charged slightly over $600. He had to drive approximately 15iles in Houston rush hour traffic to pickup the glass in the opposite direction to me and then another 35 to reach me and was finished about 7pm. Anyone needing glass repairs in the SW Houston, Missouri City or Sugar Land areas of Texas ought to use Carter Hartwig of Hartwig Auto Glass!

Holy schmoley! I wouldn't have belived that $600 was a good deal to get a window replaced. I had no idea they were that expensive!!
Talk about sticker shock - a couple months ago, we had some little b*stards running around our neighborhood, vandalizing cars. They were popping the mirror glass out of the side view mirrors on vehicles - how they came up with this brilliant idea, I have no clue.
Anyway, they got my wife's Durango (I know, I know, she's going back to Ford as soon as the lease is up!). Come to find out you can't just replace the glass + the plastic backing piece (both were gone). Had to replace both mirrors to the tune of $250.00!! I was steamed...
You may have a claim against the glass manufacturer. This is why:
I used to have a Ford Taurus. On a hot day, the Michelin space-saver spare exploded. It shot out of the storage well and hit the right rear window (the big one behind the wheel well) hard enough to pop it out of the frame. Bits of rubber ricoched all the way to the front seat.
When I looked at the tire, there was a rip in it 4 inches long. By the way, it had never been used.
I got nowhere with Ford, so I filed a claim with Michelin. They paid for all the repairs.
Of course, the glass maker will probably say that Ford inproperly installed the window, but you never know....... If they do blame Ford, then sue both of them in small claims court. It can be entertaining to watch them go after each other.
