Remote Starting system - Diesel Forum

Does anyone know of a good quality remote starting system?
I have owned 2 of the Bulldog Security Systems and both have been expensave junk. Both unites like to try to start the vehical at 60mph. Thats hard on ring gears and starters not to mention the nerves!!

There are many manufacturers out there but I dont want to end up with a piece of junk again.

I've had excellent success with my Viper 550 alarm/remote start system. Viper is a DEI product. I purchased my 550 back in 2000 when my X was brand new and haven't had a problem. I've since upgraded to a new remote that has a display readout that tells me whether or not the vehicle is armed, it notifies me when the alarm is going off and which sensor was triggered, etc. Really quite slick.

I purchased it through Circuit City here in MN and had it installed by them. Although I would not recommend them for much else, they do nice alarm installs. I've never had it try to start the vehicle while it's been being driven...only when I tell it to!

Remington,

Both of "" X "" (00)-(03) I have had the dealer install the ford remote system, works great and only one key (fhob) not sure on the spelling.Plus its covered under the warranty as I had it installed at new delivery time. The delay for glow plug system works perfect.Being in the great white north this remote is a must.

Clifford Alarms. I have a remote start on mine, and I have never had a problem.
I've had it for 6 years.

I had a Viper 550 ESP instaled at Circuit City In MN in 8/01 on the F250 and it still works perfect. The only thing I don't like about it is the automatic door lock feature. The doors lock and unlock twice prior to start and once when turning off the truck. The door lock actuators are bad enough but with all this extra work they will go out sooner. Just replaced the driver side and waiting for the passengers side to go.

Thinking about putting a Cliford in the X since I know an installer who will do it for cheap.
