Yeah, the diesel makes noise, the A/C fighting the 100 degree weather is loud, but wanted to stop the road noise coming in around the door....
Saw SOMEWHERE someone suggested taking vinyl tubing and inserting it in the weather stripping around the doors...
10 minutes per door and it was DONE !!!
And it stopped it completely...
My only caveat is they suggested 3/8" tubing and it made my door closing a LITTLE too tight...
migt try 1/4" to start and see if that solves it first...
REAL easy to do...
home depot has the tubing...
get 20 foot lengths or MORE... took about 15 to 18 foot per door...
on the inside of the weather stripping are "weep holes"
I snipped one of them a little larger, squirted some soap and water mix down there
inserted one end and started pushing...
took a bit of squirts into other weep holes as it got around the 3 corners, but eventually stopped...
cut that off, went to the part where stopped and started another length !!!
Worked great !!!
(maybe one day I will do HER side - for now - mines quiet !!!
kudos to whomever's idea this was !!!
DOH!! Now that sounds cool! I may have to try that.
In just learned about the rear door disconnect trick and it's sooooo much nicer loading things up, especialy with the boat behind it.
Now to find a way to stop the tow mirror from whistling when pulled all the way out!

How about the backup beeper? What a pain when I'm backing a trailer into a nasty spot or hooking up.

There is a way for the dealer to program the computer so that once you hit the button once, the sensor stays off for the entire key cycle. Check the archives in the "General" forum.
I know some members were going to install a switch or install a relay so once you hook up a trailer, the reverse sensor stays off.
It is on my list, but have not done it as of yet.
Hope this helps,
John

Way at the bottom...
my 03 X had a split in the weatherstripping...
if not, roll the weatherstripping out anywhere and look within the "fold"
you will see little "weep" holes (for lack of a better term)...
I used knippers to open one up a bit more and was able to slip the tubing in there...
first I lubed it with soapy water...
maybe a cap might be a good thing on the end to allow an easier push ?
Any idea how to keep the doors from autolocking the second you move the vehicle?

Yes it is done via the keypad, don't remember how but it IS in the owneres manual. Only done it three times 95TC 02X 05X so I dont remember exaclty.
I think you put in the FACTORY CODE then hold a particular button for 5 seconds for somthing like that, did the 05 while waiting for the wife at the store. And yes it is reversable if desired.
