Second Row Bucket Seats

The '02 Ex I had would "flip and fold" the second row seats by just flipping the release lever...
The new '03 (and another '03 I tested) willnot allow the seat to move and it takes a SERIOUS push to get the second row seat to go forward so someone can get in the third row...

Any ideas? are the rails out of alignment you think?
On both seats?

Re: Second Row Bucket Seats

There are two levers on the rear captains chair. The one closest to the floor is the recline. The one on the side of the seatback is the tilt and slide lever. If the cushions are new, you have to push the seat kinda hard to compress the cushion and unlock the mechanism. My seats slide forward just fine.....My guess is you are either moving the wrong lever or not tilting the seat far enough forward before it moves.

Re: Second Row Bucket Seats

That's funny, I'm pushing the wrong lever !?!

I stated that my '02 did the flip and fold without ANY push,
which probably means I may have an idea which lever to push.

And flip and fold infers that it will do both at the same time like MOST of the manufacturers seats... I think the wording in the OM says something like... push release lever to rear and seat back will tilt forward and slide...
this is probably a rail alignment problem and I'll fix it myself...

Been wanting to put some adjustable seat rails below it anyway so when there is only four of us riding the second row seats can be slid back enough to give a normal amount of legroom...

I'll do that while I'm adjusting the rails...

Re: Second Row Bucket Seats

All the 03s and 04s I tested, captains and bench, took a lot of effort to move them forward. So unless their all misaligned I would guess its the nature of the beast. I like your adjustment idea, I think it sucks you don't have the option of adjusting them further back for more leg room. If you come up with a fix, post it here and let us know how you did it.

Re: Second Row Bucket Seats

Apologies about my earlier curt response...
I DID get up on the wrong side of the bed

While the Ex is GREAT fro travelling... getting in and out of the second row captains is a tight fit for your feet sometimes...

My adjustment idea goes back to my old hippy-dippy days and the conversion vans I did... used a pair of rails between the seat base and the floor board for the old swivel pedastel seats to allos it to slide...

JC Whitney used to sell them for in their conversion van section, but can't find them - a quick google search turned up this:

Seat runners

still looking though...
