Serious Electrical Problems? Please Help

Hello everyone,

I owned a 99 Ford PS for quite a while and it had many a crazy electrical problems. I called them the "ghosts" You know, stereo working one day, not the next, blinkers going crazy, but fine the next day...headlights anyone?....well, maybe....that silly door-a-jar light on and off whenever it felt the need. I sold that truck and got a 04 Dodge Ram CD, but I HATED IT. So I went in search of an affordable used Excursion. I found one at a little local dealer. I had my mechanic go over it and found a couple of problems, i.e., the rotator cuffs were bad, a ball bearing joint, that sort of stuff. Then I found that the back windshield fluid just sprayed the back cargo area, never made it outside and the heater would not blow anywhere but the defrost area. And of course, the door-a-jar light. So i made a deal with the purchase to get that stuff fixed, only to find out that the 4WD was out too! I did get that fixed in the deal as well, but it had to do with the blower vacuum? Whatever....
So then I have my trailer brakes (just the box) installed and then my left blinker went out. But then 2 days later it was working fine. The DVD player (aftermarket) did the same thing. THEN you know when you turn the key so that the glow plug heats up and it does it's systems check, plus does the ding-ding-ding....it stoped the ding noise. So that leads me to today. I went to start it to go to a doctors appt. (did i mention i am 37 weeks prego?) and all the gauges went nutz!!!! The needles were flopping back and fourth, all the lights were flashing on and off, not in any kind of order, there was a wierd bubbling sound coming from the glove box area ( i assume the heating element) and then a grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr noise from the dash itself. WOW. This is getting really old really fast. I am now having it towed so hopefully it will be fixed once and for all. I did have a total meltdown, but I think it was par for the course. Please let me know if anyone has an idea, experience, suggestion, anything! What are the odds that I would own 2 Fords with serious problems? Or is this just something that comes with the territory? Re: Serious Electrical Problems? Please Help

Excursiongirl's hubby here with an update:

Looks like it was the aftermarket DVD player circuit that was causing a drain. The switch had been left in the "on" position by the fine folks who installed her trailer break box a couple weeks back. Both batteries were drained. If that wasn't enough, the tow truck that took the X had a major oil leak that blew oil all over the driveway and the exterior of her vehicle (and everywhere else.) They're supposedly out at our house right now cleaning up the mess and having the X detailed. I'm hoping the bad mojo used itself up yesterday.

Re: Serious Electrical Problems? Please Help

yes, it is back now. what a horrible experience. the oil is gone--but the funny part is that the guy who brought the x back to me was about to try to park it in the garage. that may seem normal, but our garage is tiny. it could not possibly fit in there. my husband has a spider and that fits, are you seeing the mental picture here? anyway, it is here, in it's "spot" i thank you all for your suggestions.
