side window will not roll back up

Any experience with this? Is it like the pdl's, and I just need to get the window motor replaced? Works on and off. Tonight didn't work, and tonight is the first real cold night we've had.

Re: side window will not roll back up

If it's been gradually getting slower as the temps have been dropping sounds like it may need a motor.

My drivers side power window in my 90 GT did the same thing.

Re: side window will not roll back up

#2dog hehe I just last week had a problem with the drivers side window. Mine had started getting slow about 3\4 going down and back up. It had started to make a pop or click sound just before it turned the motor off. I took the door panel off and and there was one of those fake nuts (stamped) that had backed off and I snugged it back up. Tested it and it was still slow.So I sprayed silicone on all the tracks and on the bearings that are in the rails also where te glass rides in the weather stripping. It was still a little slow for a few days, but now it is working better than new.

If you have not taken a door panel off it is a little PITA if you don't know where the two screws are. One is in the light and the other is under where the switches are. To get the switch housing out you have to pry up at the forward pointed end. Then unplug the four connector and lay the bugger aside. There is a screw back toward the door opener. Then you reach down and lift un on the panel and wallah it comes off. I removed the inner protection -sound deadener panel- and the so I could spray the innards better.

Then just go in reverse to reinstall the panel. I did use a little duct tape on the inner protector sound deadener panel to make sure it stayed in place while reinstalling the door panel.

Hope this helps and hope it is not your motor.

Re: side window will not roll back up

It may not be broken...as I just had a similar situation last week. Look to see if the rubber shield (I don't know what it's called) that prevents water from dripping into your door frame is still pointed upward and hasn't been inverted downward. Mine happened to be this way, and the pressure of the rubber against the glass wouldn't let the window back up. I had to get a screwdriver to carefully pull the rubber back up--all is fixed.

I hope that's all it is for you too!

Update! Good news

Thanks for the feedback. I opened her up to see if I could tell anything (thanks for the instructions - wish I had had that before I took the panel off when I was having trouble with the pdl motors - If I can say one thing here: you lift it UP once you find the screws. Unfortunately I pulled and have a broken catch now, but its still ok. Its actually quite easy once you find the two screws/bolts)
Anyway, was popping off the part that holds the up/down switch and for some reason the connection had just pulled apart (maybe due to the cold weather and not putting it back together with a snap last time maybe). So anyway, I snapped the wires back in the connector and voila it works now. Talk about a relief!

112K and still going strong!!!

Re: side window will not roll back up

That advice may help with my 250 crew cab. The right rear window is S-L-O-W. I will try the silicon. Thanks again.

Re: side window will not roll back up

Dog also make sure that the nuts that hold the track in place are smug. If they aren't then the glass can **** a little and keep it from going up like it should. Mine is now after a few weeks better than it was when new. Going to check the other three real soon.
