Don't know if I have a problem or not. When I top off, the fuel gage does not respond for maybe 2-3 miles or 5-8 minutes. Has anyone else had this corrected? I know about sending units and signal delays to the gage but this seems a excessive. It does go to over full like it should but the timing just does not make sense. Can't be foaming because I see liquid. cliffsurfs
Completely normal. The sending guage coupled with the computer has logic to control or minimize gauge fluctuations that are normally caused by sloshing fuel (while driving). When you fill up with the vehicle running, the computer thinks the fuel is sloshing around and attempts to minimize the gauge movement...hence the long wait for needle to rise. If your shut the vehicle off while refueling, the gauge will read correctly immediately when you restart. Either way...you don't have a problem with your gauge or sending unit.
Figured Toolmans suggestion was the culprit once I had to fill using a non-auto-shutoff nozzle. Was checking the gage while filling and the ignition on (not running).
