Some stats after 3 years of operating a 2001 Limited

I've got a 2001 Ltd 4X2 and have been keeping cost records since owning it. After 40,500 miles:

average cost per gallon: $1.41
fuel cost todate: $3,303
gallons used todate: 2,369
average mpg: 16.95

Only 2 problems have surfaced that were corrected under warranty.

1. replaced hydro brake boost due to air getting into the power steering system.

2. replaced both rear vent window electric motors.

Oil service & filter every 4,000 miles with Shell Rotella and Ford's Fl1995 filter.

Overall, very reliable and comfortable for long trips and hauling gear, kids, dog, boat, and m/c trailer.

Z.

Re: Some stats after 3 years of operating a 2001 Limited

nice post! i've got 32k on mine and it's been alot of fun. It'll be going into the dealer on a slow week for some warranty work. (passenger side hub has locked up, and the ignition switch is going bad).

Love my X. I'll post my mileage/gallons used when I hit 40k. I think close the first 30k is here: http://www.fahringer.net/x/dieselmpg.htm

Have a good one,
Dave

Re: Some stats after 3 years of operating a 2001 Limited

3 years with a minimal amount of issues there which is a very good thing

Our 2002 should have 27,700 give or take a few come June 13th which will be two years when we picked it up,just had the pedal recall done last January.

Excellent tower and safe transporter of the family.

Been running with $1.02 TSC Oil and Purolator filters every 3-4k.

Re: Some stats after 3 years of operating a 2001 Limited

48,000 miles (therebouts) on my Wifes Ex. We were supposed to turn it in this month but decided to buy it instead.

Only problem we had so far, (knocking on wood now), was an ice chunk that formed the first winter, (water in fuel, very cold winter), around $300.

On the second set of 285 MTR's, that is about it. We love this thing. Now I can start applying some mods to hers instead of being selfish with my rig. Just ordered some EX Badges from Steve for her birthday, and trying to decide which DVD system to install for her before our Seattle trip in June.

Nice only really having to buy gas and oil.

Barrett

On, edit;

Just got the new badges in the mail. Thanks Steve!

Have 70k on mine, I have only put 40k on it, bought it used. Rear vent motors, water pump, and seat belt, all under warranty. I have not kept accurate records, but I am pretty close to avg. about 16mpg, high of 20 low of 11. Love the comfort and towing ease.

JMHO and experience,

Paul B
