Speaker sizes - components?

Just wondering what the front door sizes are on the Excursion. Looking to replace em, probably with component speakers...lookas like 5 1/4 according to Crutchfield, but not much fits.

Anyone use the Basslink or the like under our seats? Do they fit?

Anyone using compnents? How do you like em?

3 pair of 5x7 are factory. If u dont replace the head unit dont worry about components.

Basslink won't fit under the seat. I went with the Blaupunkt powered sub because it will. Sounds great. It's not overly powerful, but it fills in the lows nicely. All depends on what you're trying to get out of it.

Any idea why all the catalog stores show em as 6x8s? I see some speakers rated for either opening...

Also, I notice that there aren't many types of speakers that fit in the front doors. Just wondering some of the best choices are. I think I'll update the regular speakers before the bass.

Crutchfield also has listing for rear door, and rear door/mid panel. Are there multiple speakers in the door?

you have 3 pairs of speakers...1 pair in the front doors, 1 pair in the rear doors, and 1 pair in the third row seat area...

the pair in the front doors are on the factory front outputs..the two pairs in the rear are on the factory rear output..

I might have to go w the 6x8s, but only 2 sets crutchfield has even fit in the front doors...a marine version around $199 and somke crappy $50 Sonys.

I really wanna go with 3 way speakers, cuz the factory ones suck.

Gum, what 6x8s did u use in the front doors?

I went with the Infinity Reference speakers. 6822's I believe. Great speakers. Ultra clear on the high end, and with the sub, the low is filled in nicely. If anything, they're lacking some mid range. I only did the front 4 and left the back row stock. I may switch out the middle row back to stock and put the Infinity's in the 3rd row. The stock speakers seem to have better mid range and that might help fill it in a little.

Overall, it sounds great though, and much better than stock.

Hmm, I left wanting more mids with stock, so I don't wanna lose more mid yet. Too bad they're not 6x9, lots more options, and 3 & 4 ways too. Anyone try and cut and fit 6x9s?

Well, I ordered a new Blaupunkt thb 200A today. I was told about it here, and found that it's now discontinued. The 200A has 70RMS watts of power, and the new 210A has 120RMS. While I'd rather have the 120, it's too tall to fit under my mid row seats. So, I found a new 200 and went for it. Should have it within a week. I'll be upgrading the front and mid row door speakers shortly too, still not sure what yet. Thinking about components up front and coax in the mid.
