I bought a used 2000 Limited X 4x4 about a month ago. The springs have been changed and I'm trying to identify what it has on it. It still has the stock front bumpstops and there is 2.25" travel on the driver side and 1.75" on the passenger. The passenger side front spring sags a lot more than the driver side.
Is the spring code stamped anywhere on the springs?
Nope. Part numbers change so for one that long ago, it may be near impossible.
The difference in "sag" is about normal, even for brand new before any settling. Not saying it's right, but it's normal.

1/4" low on left (drivers) is normal as there is just more weight on left with steering gear and all
guessing sounds like a V on left and something gone bad on right.
Vs add 1.5 so 1.5 + .75 (typical older X) = 2.25
There are part numbers on the springs, stamped in the end of the second leaf check to see if the same. And as said above the numbers are not reverse codable as far as any one here knows and we have been trying to find a way to "DECODE" front springs for over three years that I know of.

Mine's about 1/2" difference too, and was 3/4 when new. Ford's "Spec" is 5/8" difference for the front and 3/4" for the back.
I'd sure like for it to be less, and more than 1/2" to the bump stop would be nice too.

Wow, looks like I may have to change the springs just to know what I've got under there. Really don't like the sag on the passenger side. Was hoping they would at least mark what code the springs are from the factory. The drivers side front spring has an X stamped on it and is highlighted by a spot of paint, the drivers rear has a B similarly marked. No such marks that I remember on the passenger side. Need to crawl under again and see. So, someone could have marked them after the factory but I can't really know for sure. All of the spring bolts/U bolts have been recently removed and the front bolts are inserted from the outside so I know things have been changed.
Was kind of hoping the markings meant that I had X's and B's but... I guess that's one of the joys of buying used... by the time I go through everything I'll know exactly what I have and will have the upgrades I want! At least the price was right...
