I'm hoping someone has the knowledge to inform me if the springs on my X are any different than on previous models. I have had someone tell me the 05 model springs were somewhat different. I don't have much to complain about re: the ride ... other than the slow speed wander I get at speeds up to .... say 45 mph. Seems ok at highway speeds. Totally stock .... 38K miles.
In process of big wheels/tires if I can ever find the look/combo I like. I'd like to stuff 35x12 tires (highway tires) under the wells without lifting it any more than totally necessary. Fender flares have been an issue due to the lower side body molding. Still looking.
Oh yea .... 4" stainless turbo back exhaust is on the table as well.
I am so glad to have found this forum .... everyone seems to be anxious to help their fellow X owners. I hope I can contribute after some experience with my <trXck>
2005 Black Limited 4X4 6.0 PSD bone stock .... momentarily
Nothing different about the springs at all. For the trucks yes, but not the Ex.
To get 35's under it, I think you're going to go with a lift, like 4.5" at least. Just a OEM spring swap won't get you there.
There are a few with lifted Ex's that I'm sure will chime in soon.

I had 35's on mine with a DR 4.5" lift. I had a very small ammount of rubbing only when hitting a bump or driveway while turning. After doing the V and B code change I gained almost 2 more inches. I put on some 37's but it's tight, more rubbing but I'm working on it.
Thanks for the replies guys. So ... the '05 model springs need upgrading just like the rest of them??? Oh well .... I realize I'll have to raise it (a little) to get 35's in there. I even thought about putting a front coil spring conversion on it to help with tire rub .... but was told it would add 4" or more lift in the process??? Anyone have any experience with fender flares for the X with lower body side molding?. I'd hate to have to pull it off just because.
Thanks again guys. I'm going to get a pic of my X up for my signature but I'm not in any hurry since it's bone stock at the moment.
V code springs off a 2003 for sale in the for sale forum.
They go quick!
I've seen prices from $135 shipped (but seller disappeared) on up. I just paid a little bit more than that delivered to my door for V's off a '03 also.
Get'm while there HOT!

From what I have been able to gather from my years on this sight, while the Excursion got the grille and headlights from the '05 pickups, it didn't get the suspension upgrades or the interior changes the Superduty pickups got. Hence, the old pickup suspension in front and the old interior for '05. As far as the low speed lane wander, a bigger rear anti-sway bar (30mm vs. 24mm) made a big difference on mine. Be prepared to be buried in information. Welcome to the site! Craig.

Thanks for the good info. I am now looking for a set of springs for my ride. I was going to try and stuff 35' tires in the wells with a minimal lift, but it looks like I'm now going to a 33" tire on 20" rims. Hopefully yhe springs will give me the room necessary.
Our signature (even though I don't have one) is very similar. I also have a 2005 F350 King Ranch 4X4 PSD.
