Starting Issue!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to run this past the experts on this forum. First off, I have 2000 Excursion PSD with 114,000 miles. The last few months it takes a bit longer cranking time to start the vehicle and when it was colder it ran really funny like it would jump around and rock alittle bit. After a few minutes it would warm up and smooth out and run fine. I just thought that since it was cold that is why it was running that way. Now it is in the 80's and it still takes 5-10 seconds of cranking before starting. I have spent some time this morning reading through the "hard/no start check here" thread. I believe my symptoms are similiar, but I have not noticed the smoke. Also part of this, I was in San Diego last month and I thought since it was warm I didnt let it warm up so to speak. It cranked a few times started up and I drove off up the hill, half way up I lost power and it died. At that point it took more cranking before it started, but it did. I guess after reading through the hard start problems I will run through the GPR test and may even buy one and replace. Another thing, since noticing this starting issue I have gone through two wally world batteries and I think a third is about to go. the truck sits most of the time since I run two little diesel VW's. So the batteries last night did not have enough power to crank. I check the volts and one was 12.48 and the other as 11.83. So put the charger on the last one and got the truck to start but again it cranked for 5-10 seconds. Thanks.

you might be leaking fuel ouit of the fuel bowl. do you hgave a strong diesel smell in the cab when the engine is running? also check the top valley of the motor to see if you have any diesel sitting from a possible leak.

It could be your main positive power lead going to the battery. Had it replaced already in the F250 due to hard starts.

Nope, no smell. But I will check specifically for that. I had a leak before and went ahead and changed the two seals in the fuel bowl valve to the Viton seals.

Any specific lead to replace it with or just one that will fit in length? Would the cables going to the other battery be suspect as well?
