Starting to think about buying X

I've just about crossed the bridge, and am almost ready to start an earnest search for an '05 X. I'm thinking of the EB or L, but either one will need a tow pkg to pull the Stream.

I've read about the anti-swaybar, and would welcome any other items I should consider adding for a smooth pull. I'm giving up a 250 7.3 PSD with the LWB. That brute hauls the 10K Stream up and through the Rockies with no problems at all. What will I be looking at as far as towability on the X.

You won't have to worry about changing anything if you don't hurry and get one

Suggest you go to www.fordvehicles.com
and select the Search Dealer Inventory button to see if you can find one !

Re: Starting to think about buying X

My experience with my Ex (see below) is that you will need to do some modification to the rear suspension if you tow 10k with heavy tounge weight. Minimaly you will want to upgrade to HD shocks and add an air bag overload such as Rite Rides or Air Lift. My 200 did not come with HD rear sway bar so I added that as well, but the 2005 may have it already. If not it is a must.

Good luck I orderd my X on April 19th of 05

Three weeks latter I found out all the PSD slots were about taken till Sept (end of production) and my dealer was told they could get one psd X if they bought two V-10s!

Granted my dealer is a small town dealer without much pull but I called the biggest dealer in WNC in early may and they said they could not do it.

Any way my dealer found one Identicle to my order except it had chrome running boards and cargo kit, two items I was not going to pay for. Turned out the PSD they found was a price increase older and it cost just a tad more and It turned out like the chrome bars better anyway, they are stronger than the standard one that tended to bend and give on my 02.

Hope you do as well.

Bruce
