Steering Column Noise

My steering column has a squeaky groan noise in it, only in the parking lot. My dealer says Ford has no info on it but he is more than willing to tear into it and fix it, makes me a little nervous.
I recall some one here having the same noise and then someone else said they had the fix.

Does anyone remember who that is?

Many thanks
Bruce

Re: Steering Column Noise

I don't know about the groan noise but I'm taking mine in tomorrow because the steering squeeks while I turn it. Also, one of my vent windows stays open unless I push on while my wife presses the button. I'm going to see what this dealer says about the drivers seat tilt also.

Re: Steering Column Noise

Guys I have the same squeak only much more pronounced in colder weather. My On/Off Cruise button also gets stickey when its cold. Let me know what the dealers fix is before I take mine in.

Re: Steering Column Noise

ForumBlue,

My drivers seat, seat back tilts to the right. No help from dealer, field service engineer, or Ford executive offices. It is noticable when you open tailgate and compare the two front seats.

Re: Steering Column Noise

This came up a few months back. A couple of guys found that the rubber boot at the fire wall was installed upside down. It is even labeled, "this side up". My moms has the same squek, I will be looking at that soon.

Hope this helps.

Dave

Re: Steering Column Noise

The invoice says that they "lubed lower steering column" The squeak is gone for now, will see if the fix lasts.

As for the seat they say that the frame is straight so it must be the cushions, and if I want to leave it for "a while" they will send it out to whoever makes them to be redone.
