Does anyone know which color wires on the rear headphone connections go to right and left. The connection I am looking at is the one on the rear of the center console where the rear passengers connect there headphones.
Thanks..

The wires that are used to create the headphone outputs are the speaker wires for the rear speakers. The control panel recievs a raw speaker and the sends it back out to the rear and middle speakers.
Colors and pins as shown in the 2003 X Audiophile sound sytem schematics
Raw left + is GY/LB (6) - is TN/YE (5)
Raw right + is OG/RD (2) - is BN/PK (3)
Left out + is TN/WH (7) - is same as raw (5)
Right out + is TN/LG (1) - is same as raw (3)
() denotes the pin number at the control panel connector

Thanks for replying.. If I want to splice in a wireless headphone transmitter. Would I be correct to tap into the raw wires.

That will probably blow out the transmitter. You need to install a line level converter and send its output to the transmitter. I installed the converted in the back of the center console. Then ran RCA cable under the drivers seat up the B piller and over the the entertainment system to the transmitter.

Ditto that. Line level. You'd have to have your volume almost down to nothing to not blow up the transmitter otherwise.

Does that mean I cannot connect from a headphone jack into the RCA input jacks of the wireless transmitter. Sorry for the dumb questions.

You would have to have the volume low in that situation too, unless the transmitter has a circuit to correct for that. But if the directions say to hook to "Line Level" or "Line Out" or to an "Aux" or "Auxillary" (which means line level), then that is what you need to do.
DO NOT CONNECT DIRECTLY TO THE HEADPHONE JACK !!!!! It will blow out the PC board that produces the headphone output. The designer of the circuit floated the 'ground' side of the headphone common at a voltage different from ground (a really poor decision). The RCA inputs to the transmitter have the shield side connected to chassis ground and when you connect the headphone jack and the RCA together current flows that heats up components and the board will fail in a short time. I know this because I did this myself and had to replace the control panel. The symtom of a blown control panel is that it will no longer control the radio remotely and you can't turn on the headphone mode. Do use a line level converter. If you will PM me and send a Email address I can send you a JPEG of the wireing diagram with the line converter drawn in. Does anyone know how to post a JPEG so it is available to those who might need it?

Click Here for PowerTug's wiring diagram. His email stated:
"This PIC is from the FORD chassis wiring manual model years 2003. My penciled in part is what I added. Note the R and L inputs are
should be reversed for proper R-L channels (I drew it incorrectly)."

Hey Jim, just realized you are in San Jose.

PowerT and The_B,
Did exactly as per your drawing. I am using a Clarion WH105 RF Wireless transmitter, a IEC AULOC adjustable line output converter.
I tapped into the wires at the rear bottom of the center console control panel as per your drawing and it works perfectly. The dual/single mode seems to function also. Since there is no "switched" pos there I'll have to run a wire from under the dash to get switch power to that location. This must be a Cali thing, I'm down here in So Callif. I'll have it done tomorrow, next trip I can listen to what I want and the kids can watch the movies...
Thanks for all your help..
