Sterring wheel position

Is it just me, or does other X owners have the issue of their sterring wheel not being completely on center when driving down a straight level road. The bottom right of the Ford oval emblem on the wheel leans to the left when driving. It tracks straight in that position, but when I have the emblem centered, the vehicle pulls to the left. Dealer has alligned 2x in 15K miles and says the allignment is in spec.

Re: Sterring wheel position

Been there, done that! On the last X I had the dealerhip "adjust" the steering wheel. There has got to be an easy fix, cause a notice last weekend that the new one is doing the same thing. I wonder if it can be corrected in the steering box, or if you could slide the linkage off and grap another spline clockwise?

Re: Sterring wheel position

Recently changed the rotors & brake pads on the front of my X, and the mechanic test drove it, to check the brakes, & came back to tell me he thought the steering wheel wasn't aligned....FUNNY!!!! Cuz that's the way the lousey thing has been since I got it NEW!!!! He told me they had a mechanic that was REALLY good at correcting this!!!!!

The darn thing has been pulling to the right since the day I got it, and the sterring wheel shows it!!!!

Re: Sterring wheel position

For what it's worth, at least I'm not the only one. Thanks.

Re: Sterring wheel position

Hey guys if this really bothers you that much take it to you favorite alignment shop. No more complicated than a minor toe adjustment. Not a big deal, probably wouldn’t hurt to have the toe checked anyhow. Ask them to check toe and square up the wheel while there at it.

Re: Sterring wheel position

You can center the steering wheel by
1: pull truck onto flat surface and with front wheels straight.
2: loosening 2 bolts on the arm (don't know the proper name for the part) its the arm under the front end that goes from pitman arm to arm that does steering.
3: with the steering wheel unlocked, just spin the coupler (be sure to spin in the correct direction...if wheel starts to move the wrong way just rotate the coup[ler the other direction, that you loosened and the steering wheel will start to move. Have someone up top and tell you when the wheel is straight. Retighten the two bands on the coupler and you are done....2 minutes.
