Re: Strong smell of diesel after shut down
Climb up on top of your beast and look down behind all the linkage at the top of the block. If you can see any diesel fuel spilled there or pooled up, it is most likely coming from the filter. I had the same thing happen to me, and the smell eventualy got bad enough to where we could smell it in the cab, (of course it was when we were 1500 mi. from home), and the dealer found it was the fuel filter. Cured the problem, and haven't had any smell since. But mine started out smelling every once in a while after shut down like that. I just figured it was a diesel thing.
