Stull Billet Grill on my 03 Limited X

Finally got the Stull Billet Grill on the X. I have to say, I don't understand why companies won't take the extra few minutes to take some actual pictures of the install instead of just writing a few sentences. Anyway, got it on and I am very pleased. Really cleans up the truck nicely. And very high quality pieces. Click on my sig to see the pics.

Re: Stull Billet Grill on my 03 Limited X

Very nice. In addition to the grille, I really like your tranny temp/boost/pyro guage and location. I need/want to do that mod soon.

Where did you mount your subwoofer? I still haven't upgraded the sounds, yet.

Re: Stull Billet Grill on my 03 Limited X

Yeah I like the under dash pod. Fits nice and doesn't obstruct the view, plus you get to keep the handle on the driver's A-pillar. I mounted the sub in the back. I will run out and take another picture at lunch and post it.

Re: Stull Billet Grill on my 03 Limited X

Nice looking grill ! Really goes well with the mineral grey Ex !

We had decided on the Mineral Grey 4x4 until I saw the monchrome Black and it jumped out at me with the black grill, bumpers, etc... but the Mineral Grey was NICE and looks better with a lot more dirt on it than the black does :-) but I'm five minutes away from a $5 exterior car wash and see ALL my Ex buddies in there...

******************************
Wow, Still have the temp tags and you're changing it already :-)

I waited a bit before I started 'personalizing' our '03 Ex !

************************************
But, I'll bet your instructions weren't nearly as bad as the Hellwig rear sway bar instructions !!! They're INFAMOUS !

Re: Stull Billet Grill on my 03 Limited X

Thank! I love the black X's also. but I used to own a black Mustang and I am very obsessive about keeping it clean and black is a pain. It was hard enough on the Mustang, but having to wash that big-ass SUV all the time would kill me!

Yeah we have had the X since June 21st, but I wanted to add a few things just to personalize it.

You are correct. The Hellwig instructions are by far the worst I have ever seen. I am an engineer, and when we do instructions we have to document them with in-depth instructions followed by numerous pictures and diagrams. Oh well

CobraMike,
Love the grille and under-dash pod.

How much was the pod and where did you buy it?

Re: Stull Billet Grill on my 03 Limited X

Bought the pod and gauges from ITP. Bob Riley also sells it as well. Just a note for anyone wanting to do it. If you have an X with the tan interior, you need Dark Parchment paint. You have to call and ask for it because nobody has it listed on their site.

Re: Stull Billet Grill on my 03 Limited X

Ok, I loaded the pics of my subwoofer. Click on my sig to see them.

I decided that I didn't want a huge box in the back and then an amp mounted under a seat, or where ever people put them. I chose the Infinity Basslink. It is a 10", 500W sub with a built-in amp. Size is about 12"x12"x9". I mounted it on a piece of wood and then mounted the wood to the mat using industrial velcro. That way I didn't have to drill into the body to mount it. Removal is as easy as disconnecting the wires and pulling it off the velcro. Believe me, the single 10" is plenty with all the air volume in the X. And the best part of all, with the help of eBay the entire project cost me $350, including installation.

One thing I still need to do is put some automotive carpet around the piece of wood to clean it up a little. I know it looks crappy right now.

Re: Stull Billet Grill on my 03 Limited X

Mike

I like your guage mount,

When I did mine I could not find an "Under Dash Mount" had to use a top of dash mount and modify slightly, your is even better looking.
I had trouble with the paint as well, Where did you find the paint?

Thanks

Bruce

Re: Stull Billet Grill on my 03 Limited X

Well, the guy at ITP thought I was doing a pillar pod and sent me the wrong paint. I was ordering the dimmer from Bob Riley and decided to order the paint. After a long conversation he mentioned he had Dark Parchment, but it was not listed on his website. I talked to him afterwards and they said they would maybe put it up on the website. If it's not there just call and ask for it.

Re: Stull Billet Grill on my 03 Limited X

Did you install the gauge sensors yourself or did you have a shop do it, and if so what was the charge (if you don't mind)? I'm reluctant to do it myself, especially the pyro.

Re: Stull Billet Grill on my 03 Limited X

Coldpizza - I installed them myself. It is actually very simple. The wiring is more of a pain than the sensor install. PM me and I can give you some insight and more detailed instructions.

Re: Stull Billet Grill on my 03 Limited X

How much cutting did you have to do for the grille and were did you get it and cost? It looks great.

Re: Stull Billet Grill on my 03 Limited X

Installation is not too hard, just time consuming. Basically, the grill shell comes off with 4 screws on the top, and 4 clips on the bottom. The center section is held in place by 16 clips. After removing it you just have to grind down the tabs. Very easy. The side grills pop out just as easy. However, before removing them you have to trace with a grease pen or something the outline inside the shell. Once they are out you have to cut away everything to the inside of the line. This has to be a clean edge because this is what shows when you are finished. Just take your time and use a dremel tool or sand paper for the final few millimeters of grinding.

I got the grill from Summit Racing for like $175 shipped. This is the absolute best price I found anywhere!
