SuperDuty Grill for an Excursion

Anyone know where I can purchase a new chrome SuperDuty Grill for an 04 Excursion other than the dealer? I was kind of hoping to find a discount price somewhere.

I'm currently watching Ebay and searching some other parts web sites.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Regards;

David

Re: SuperDuty Grill for an Excursion

Keep watching eBay. Go to the search box, type in - grille superduty "super duty" - select titles and descriptions, then search. When it comes up click save in favorite searches in the upper right corner, go to favorites on "my eBay" and click for email updates whenever anything is added to your search. You will have one in weeks.

That's how I got mine. Seems that for every X owner who hates his grill and wished he had the SD one, there's a SD owner trying to set his truck apart from the rest!

Re: SuperDuty Grill for an Excursion

I'll buy your excursion grill. All you will have to do is wrap it in the same box your super duty grill comes in. And mail it.

Re: SuperDuty Grill for an Excursion

I bought a New in the box Super Duty Chrome grill on Ebay today for 75.00 delivered.

I guess it pays to be patient. I'll probably keep my Excursion grill for now just to see which one I like better.

David

Re: SuperDuty Grill for an Excursion

A used Excursion grill just sold on ebay for $153.50. How do I know? I bid it to $151.00 and lost by one bid!
However, I did score a killer deal on another set of heated tow mirrors for the X. When we got the X the driver mirror was cracked (front plastic part) and the grill was banged up. Anyways, got a brand new pair of heated, power, telescoping mirrors on ebay for $152.00 shipped.

Re: SuperDuty Grill for an Excursion

I read in the manual that front ended aftermarket option can potentially affect the performance of the airbag system activating in a crash. They did not specify whether they were refering to grilles, wenches, ect. Anyone with insight into the legitimacy of this concern? joe

Re: SuperDuty Grill for an Excursion

I can't see how a replacement grill made out of the same material could affect the airbag timing. (especially one made by ford) However, I can see how a wench, bull bars, push bars, brush gaurds, etc.. will affect the timing of the airbag.

As a case in point, my local police department no longer puts push bars on the patrol cars, because of the fact it affects the airbag timing during a crash. It causes the airbags to deploy too late.

On a personal note, I don't like airbags in the car.

Re: SuperDuty Grill for an Excursion

the air bags are timed off of the crush zones on the front sections of the frame rails.the only mods that could cause problems with air bag deployment would be to the front bumper areas.grills, hoods, fenders ,and lamps are no concern.

Re: SuperDuty Grill for an Excursion

I am pretty sure the bag deployment is done by a inertia switch that is mounted under the front seats. It is set off by force like a sudden stop. The trucks that have only front air bags most of the time it will only be set off by frontal impact.

Re: SuperDuty Grill for an Excursion

I am also looking to swap my OEM Excursion Grill for a Superduty grill. Anyone have comments about the aftermarket ones on EBay? Look pretty good for $75 or so....

Thanks

I'd be precautious with steel fenders, hoods, doors when it comes to aftermarket products.

The SuperDuty aftermarket should fit right up no problem. 1A Auto has those and they offer a 60 day money back on all their products.

You'll just need to pull the bottom metal clips off your Excursion grille as the aftermarket grilles does not come with metal hardware.

Hope this helps some.

Happy Friday! BILL
