I believe an Excursion frame is differant width then truck frame. Hellwig rear sway bar kit part # 7643 is for Excursion 2x4 and 4x4. It is differant from truck part #'s . I'M ASSuming you have an excursion sense you posted on Excursion thread

I have been advised the Ford heavy duty sway bar is better, at half the price. I believe its a 30mm sway bar.

I agree with you. BUT, my 4x2 Excursion has never had any bar installed. I will go to the dealer to get the parts, butI need to know exactly what I need to install it on the truck. Is it a bolt-on. Nuts, bolts, washers, and bar? Or is it drilling the truck anywhere?

i havent check the oe bar price and would question whether or not it is better than the helwig. Both mount with no drilling. The helwig is under $200 shipped and is larger in diameter than the 30mm OE part. Bruce1954 I think has used both so maybe he can chime in.

I am sure the ford bar can be used and I highly recommend it over the Helwig bar.

I was one of the first to install a 30 MM bar on my 02 X you can see the pictures in my signature.

Back then I had to make the link arms but you can use all the parts from the 04/05 X.

The only question is if the right rear shock plate would have to be replaced or modified as I did, it can be seen in the pictures. The 03s had a few running changes and you have 2WD most here have 4X4s so we are even less sure. Take a look at my old pictures they should help.

It can be all bolt on the question is the right shock plate.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I agree with that statement, and I've had both. I installed a Hellwig rear anti-swaybar on my '01 Ltd 4WD, and my '05 EB 4WD came with OEM rear anti-swaybar. I prefer the OEM bar's performance.
