Jward, Thanks that give me a little Idea what I'm looking at. Any more pics on the exhaust side would be great.FJF

I have the Banks monster 3.5 inch turbo back exhaust and Hellwig sway bar and have no clearance issue whatsoever.
Here are some pics and one of them shows the muffler, pipe and sway bar. Pic was more for the plate that is on the passenger side of the vehicle's shock mount. Other pics are of the sway bar link to the frame bolt. I moved the brake cable's mounting bolt so that the sway bar's link is more vertical.

Go for the Hellwig. It's big and tough and relatively inexpensive.
I love mine, and it saved my a** in a very close call two days after I got it. I radically snapped the X to the right to avoid and almost certain T-bone, and then back left to avoid a tree. I couldn't have done it without the Hellwig and the Monroe shocks. These trucks can get real squirrily without them.

Boertje, Thanks for adding your set of pics. Doesn't look like my exhaust should be a big issue. I'll order one this week. Thanks again.FJF

Yep, already experienced it. Ordered my bar last week and should see it tomorrow when I get home from work. I'm very glad to hear that it fixes the sort of...well, "interesting" handling characteristics in sharp avoidance maneuvers.
Tell you guys what. This coming weekend, if I get it installed I'll post up pics. (Also need to go to a wedding, and finish that subwoofer project...crap...) Like I've said though, I've no idea what "kind" of exhaust it is. I just went to the exhaust place that did my race car and said "get me something good."

Installed mine this weekend. It CAN be done by yourself, but I would recommend having some help available :~> When you undo the U-boolts for the shocks, it is a bear to get them back up AND install the new U-bolts. I had intended on doing the shocks and the sway-bar at the same time, but the shocks didn't arrive on time. So I did the sway bar this weekend. Took about 4 hours working alons. Not real difficult, just make sure you have an air wrench and again, an extra hand would be VERY useful. :~>
One thing I can recommend, if you are going to do it alone, a jack is a nice thing to have handy. Helps to get the shocks compressed again and held in place while you line up the U-bolts. AND, don't spend a whole lot of time getting the shock mounts lined up correctly until AFTER you are putting the bar on. You have top remove the top bolt on the new U-bolt to attach the sway bar U-bushing to it.
Another recommendation for anyone doing it. Make sure that the link connectore are facing the same direction when you put them on. Otherwise it will not fit correctly. AND the one on the drivers side needs to have the clearance between the frame for the emergency brake cable. You'll see what I mean once you get under there :~>
Also, apparently someone at HelWig is listening to the users as the U-bushings are VERY easy to put on now. The instructions are still not that great, but the bushings went on VERY easy :~>
BTW, there is a definite difference with the sway bar installed.
Absolute best mod I did to the X. She is a stable beast now and with the fuel mods for the 7.3, runs quieter than the new 6.0 currently sold. I'm happy

I've been led to believe somewhere on here (of course now I can't find it) that if you have a 4" exhaust, the Hellwig won't fit anymore. Any truth to this?

I have the Banks 4" exhaust. The Helwig went on with no problems at all.

I did a search for other posts and don't find any kind of expanded explanation of what the fuel mods are that you did that quietened things down? I would be interested to know what you've done. I don't want to hijack this thread, but maybe you could point me to another post?
Do a search for cackle, LL #8, hutch's tank mod, and the HX mod and you will have reading for about 2 weeks. My X is quieter than my friend's '04 X with the '04 engine and latest flash.

boertje,
OK, I've searched on that entire string, and on each component between the commas, and I keep finding the same things - nothing related to fuel mods. Is there any chance you can paste in a link directly to the thread? I'd really be interested, but...
