We also picked up ours at Summit Racing for something like $140 shipped.

The part number on my invoice is HEL-7643.

Re: swaybar?

I received my Air Lifts from Summit with a $15 coupon for the next order so I ordered the Helwig rear swaybar. I put the Air Lifts on the rear today with Bilsteins and it looks great with 25psi.

How did the install of the Air-Lifts go? Where did you route the airlines to or do you have the compressor. I went to install my bags, but the kit had two passenger side brackets. Driver's side is on it's way. I'm a former bike owner as well, GSXR1100. Loved it. Drop me a line at ian.martin@cardinal.com

Re: swaybar?

Ok guys I just went out tonight and took five shots of the Air Lifts. They are in my gallery so just click on each one.
http://photos.thedieselstop.com/show...mp;ppuser=8110

The hardest part I guess was drilling for the lower brackets. I had my X jacked up in the driveway all weekend since I did not work on it full time (watching NASCAR etc)but I would say four hours for the Air Lifts . The right rear tire was a ***** to get off because of all the road salt this winter.
The most important tool is a good drill bit (3/8) for the lower brackets .

Re: swaybar?

Really cool! THANKS!!

Just a couple of more questions.

1. Did you have to drill the frame to mount the upper brackets?
2. Do you have to remove the spring U-Bolts to install the lower brackets? (does it require you to support the axle, etc?)

Any chance of a scan/photo of the install instructions?

Of course NOW I'm going to have to order a set . .

Have a good one!

Re: Swaybar/Air-Lifts

Joe;

Thanks for the pics. That is amazing! You mounted your air line stems exactly where I planned on mounting mine. Looks great there and is functional. Did the install require a lift? Did you install them yourself or at home? Do you have U or V codes? Why did you add the air bags. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks.

Re: swaybar?

Dave here is the link to the Excursion rear Air Lift instructions (PDF).
http://airlift.r-catalog.com/ImgVD/A...431(57340).pdf

The only drilling is to the lower strike plate (L&R sides)and for the air valves in the receiver. The upper bracket uses the hole were the old yellow stock jounce bumper was and an existing hole in the frame.
The U bolts are not touched unless you do the swaybar too. I used two jacks..one under the receiver and one under the axle with a pair of jackstands.
I have the front Air Lifts but I am not in a rush to put them on until we get some good weather again.

Have fun,
Joe

I did the install in my driveway with jacks under the receiver and rear axle. I have Air Lifts for the front instead of U or V codes so I can adjust the ride height with air pressure. I will install them when we get some good weather again. I am picking up my Citation 41ZBSR TT April 1st and will install a Hensley Arrow hitch with 1400lb spring bars on it . I need the receiver to be 18" (inside top 2" opening) when hooked up so the Air Lifts should make it easy to do after the spring bars are adjusted to shift weight to the front axle and TT axles. I also have a Sherline LoadMaster 0-2000lb tongue weight
scale on order to get a tongue weight after loading the TT.

Great. Thanks. Good to see you're working the X like it was built to do.

Re: Swaybar/Air-Lifts

From what I can see in your pics, all of the downward pressure exerted by the air bags is on the "wing" of the rear block.

Are there any other contact points?

Just the way you see it here in the Air Lift install PDF.
http://airlift.r-catalog.com/ImgVD/A...431(57340).pdf

It is just over 19.75" from the inside top 2" opening (with 25psi)on the receiver and I need 18" when hooked up to the TT. How are the Firestone Ride-Rites mounted ?

Re: Swaybar/Air-Lifts

The ride-rites are mounted basically the same, but instead of riding on the jounce bumper strike plate only, they have a bracket that attaches under the strike plate as well that spreads some of the load to the axle housing.

The ride-rite instructions are here: www.ride-rite.com/instruction_manuals/rrin2251.pdf

How much weight are your air-lifts rated for at max psi?
