Tekonsha in an X?

Hi all, I tried a search both here and in towing but come up empty as my search-fu is very weak today.

I want to tow a relatively light trailer with my X and am looking at the Tekonsha P3 as the controller.

I know there is a wiring connector up under the dash somewhere near the radio (?) for a plug in controller, but does Tekonsha sell an in-between piece that allows their P3 brain (4 wire connector) to connect to Ford's harness?

Anyone got any advice?

Well I'll be darned.

So when their brochure mentions that the pigtail 3065P fits 2005-2007 Superduties, am I am expect that a SuperDuty pigtail will fit my (mostly Superduty but some parts and wiring bits are uniquely) Excursion?

I would think that Ford has some things that are "standard" across some model lines for the same yr. For instance they probably use the same starter, alt, and some other common parts. Based on that I would probably get the pigtail. Brake controler wiring for tekonsha is pretty much "universal" The pigtail just makes it "plug and play".

I have the P3 and harness in my X and love it. Changed from a Prodigy and the P3 is a much better unit.

Yeah, I thought my P3 wasn't working because it was so smooth, not jerky like the old one. Stab the brakes and it'll lock the trailer tires though.

Charlene at Tekonsha says p/n #3035 fits the 2005 X.

Southwest Brake and Wheel won't free-ship to Canada, won't USPS to Canada and will ONLY ship via Fed Ex 6-10 day service for $38 or 1-2 for $65. Unbelievable.

Bought the P3 locally and the harness. AWESOME controller. Easy to set up and works very well. Nice that you can change the display colours to suit your truck. I set mine to green to match the Ford dash.

Couldn't be happier with the P3.

I also love my P3; worth every penny! Adjusting from an empty trailer to a fully-loaded trailer is as simple as pressing the boost-button until the icon matching your load appears.

As for the harness connector, on my '00 it was fastened to the stamped-metal dash support up to the right from the under-dash access panel, which made it real difficult to plug in the controller harness.

I just pried the connector off the support, which made it much easier to plug in.
