Are these V code springs?

Was by a shop today and they had upgraded (lifted) their F250 FX sport crew cab 4X4 purchased in August 2003. The springs from the fronts say 2C34 ADB R 310 2. Are these the correct springs for a suspension upgrade on a 2003 X 4X4 with 6.0? If I use these will I have to change the rear also? What improvements can I expect?

Thanks
Jim

Re: Are these V code springs?

I'd recommend to check the truck's door tag the springs came off of to verify if they're U's,V's or W's.

The V's should be fine with the 6.0's,the rear springs will rest in after awhile to which you could go with the F350 rear blocks or air bags to pick up the height you lost.

I went with the blocks for SDHQ had a pile of them and purchased a new set of U bolts w/nuts to go with the blocks.

The advantages to correct springs (U,V,W or X)is a way way better ride and handling,I noticed that just as I got on the freeway for a test run it's a whole different truck

Re: Are these V code springs?

Thanks for the reply bill.

I went back and looked at the door sticker - it says SPR VP if that means something. Are the 'VP' the same as 'V'? Also will the 'VP' be stiffer or softer than the ones on my 2003 X? Any Idea on what a fair price to install them would be?

Thanks agian

Re: Are these V code springs?

Can't help on the spring codes but I paid $120 to install my "V" codes, '03 bumps and Ranchos. Of course he quoted the price before he figured out he would have to pull the front bumper.

Re: Are these V code springs?

You gottit Jim,they're "V" codes with a rear spring code of "P",so when you see another truck or Excursion's SPR code you'll know what the codes are for front and rear

Lemme locate the PDF with the spring capacities/codes breakdown and I'll post it up.

My spring PDF is abit out of date,I believe it covers to 2002,so the "P" code must be one of Ford's new ones, but I'm searching for an updated version.

Re: Are these V code springs?

So my X comes with 'DG' springs and I'm looking to change to 'VG'. does this sound right? I wonder if it will still sit level when done

Re: Are these V code springs?

You'll just need V codes. The G just represents the rear spring code. Ford puts em together to save space on the tag

Re: Are these V code springs?

Measuring at the tops of the fender wells, my truck had about 1.75" to 2" 'rake', meaning the rear was higher, with the stock "D" code springs. After installing the "V" codes it measured the same height front and back. However, it "looked" nose high. It seems that all of the accents on the truck are designed to look correct when it has the factory rake. If you measure the pinstripe and crease at the top of the doors and quarter panel you will find that they fall away if the fenders are level. I'm not sure what they do when it's sitting at the factory angle. Never checked. It looked right. I found that installing the F-350 rear blocks returned the truck to what I felt was the proper angle.

The only problem now is that the 265 tires that I spent $864 on 6K miles ago look too small.

I swear it never ends.

Re: Are these V code springs?

The only reasons I got the 285's was I was adding the bumper and getting a set of F350 blocks installed at SDHQ,and the Excursion now has the rake it had when the X was brand new.
