Time for an 06 X? 05 needs a little work up front!
A woman driving a Honda pulled across five lanes in front of me this morning on the way to the office. I thought she as going for the center lane, then the lane next to me but she was crossing all five lanes on a diagonal to get to a different road offset by a couple of hundred feet or so. We were both a shaken and backs hurting but I think all will be ok. I posted pics at SM via link below.
I never did like the monochrome exterior of the X but we did not want the EB interior as we are keeping this one.
What do you think of the 06 chrome package would look like on the X.??
Found a similar colored truck on ebay and it looks good to me.
Have to replace all the parts anyway and the rear bumper was hit in June of 05 and they wrote me a check for that just never got it fixed because I thought the painted bumpers would never hold up from chips and such and they have not.
I just think chrome is more practical at 35K or so per year.

Everyone likes something different we thoght the EB seats just had to much contrast, but we like things simple and we knew we would be living it for some time.
I have seen other X small car picts and they look about the same, You do take a little hit in an x or truck at impact because it is so ridged and and does not have the crumple zones unless you hit something much harder.
Re: Time for an 06 X? 05 needs a little work up front!
Amazing to me how people can fail to see a tiny little X on the road.

Yes over 50 however Scottish/English/German/Polish
I have the chrome step rails, did not want them but when ford refused to build my truck in April of 05 it what the dealer found, exactly what I had on order plus the chrome step rails.
I have to admit I like them better; they are sturdier than the std. running boards that bent down on my 02, they are safer in the snow and ice since they tend to shed better, and they are lower for my mother in-law. I just think they always looked a bit out of place on an otherwise devoid of chrome truck.
I like the practicality of chrome and stainless over the paint it will simply last several times longer with less maintenance.
You ought to be able to bump something with a "bumper" and not have the paint fall off.
I do like the billet bar look of the 06 however they can keep the chrome covers for the mirrors.

Males over 50 (particularly of Mediterranean decent) seem especially partial to chrome and lots and lots of blinky, flashy lights. Haven't really figured that one out yet. Not agreeing or disagreeing. Just an observation.

Careful now! I'm 48, was born in England like my father, and my mom and a sister are from the Rock of Gibraltar. Ya' can't get much closer to the Mediterranean without swimming in it ... BTW, done that, too! I am NOT a fan of chrome. It was one reason I traded in the '01 LTD for an '05 EB ... I never liked the chrome bumpers. How much chrome have you seen on a Ferrari or Lamborghini?
In addition, I've been replacing chrome parts on my '06 HARLEY-DAVIDSON with black parts. (Have you seen the "black sheep" H-D Commercial?) I can fix black, but I don't want to attempt fixing chrome.
I started to write a post yesterday about having a preference for the monochrome look, but decided against it since it's his truck, and he can do as he pleases. But this Med-comment got my sheep ... er, I mean goat.

Have you seen the painted mirror covers? Classy!

Now that is a thought, have to photo shop the painted mirrors on the one above and see!
The insurance adjustor was in to day and is sending a nice check to start us off it may cover it but all are expecting hidden items. The shop doing the work and the adjuster all had heads going up and down so I am OK so far.

News flash an X is a truck not a sports car
My priorities on this one are:
Practical, must last without excessive maintenence. good for 10 years or 250K whatever comes last.

That sux Bruce!
Yeah I think the chrome '06 package would look sweet on your Ex. It gives it more of that semi-truck look. I love it! But please, for the love of all that is good and pure, do NOT put the bling bling chrome mirrors on!
