Turning off and on anti theft system

I am trying to program my autolocks. I know this has been talked about many times. I have the sequence but mine did not work becuase the theft system was on. I could not see in my book how to turn that off and on so I can program the locks. Could anybody give me some pointers. I am new to all this but very willing to learn and I do appreciate everyone on this forum for all help that has been rendered. Now if I could just sell my 99 suburban I can keep the X. If not I may have to sell the X. AND I DON'T WANT TO.

Re: Turning off and on anti theft system

You do not have to turn the anti-theft off. Just do the sequence and it will work.

Re: Turning off and on anti theft system

The PATS system will only stop flashing when the vehical is running. The keyless enty is not effected by the PATS . I would have the numbers you are entering verified to make sure they are the correct ones.

Re: Turning off and on anti theft system

I am trying to turn the autolock feature off so they don't lock when I start the vehicle. It drives me crazy. Are you talking about the same thing or did you mean just getting in the vehicle through the keypad? The keyless entry works just fine. I was just trying to turn off the autolocks.

Re: Turning off and on anti theft system

I thought you were refering to the keyless pad.My 2000 X doesn't have auto locks, that I'm aware of. But I will check a shop manual to be sure. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Turning off and on anti theft system

My vin number refers to a 2000 model year. I have them on my X. As soon as you start the X it locks all the doors. The sequence I have tried does not work. Can anyone else shine some more light on this subject?

Re: Turning off and on anti theft system

Following the proceedure, which I admit is a pain in the rear, worked for my 2001. Are you sure you are doing it correctly? Did you read the fine print where it says one foot has to be off the floor during the key switches?

Re: Turning off and on anti theft system

Where do I find this procedure? I hate the autodoor locks.
Mine is an 02' X.

Thanks

Re: Turning off and on anti theft system

In the owners manual, it took me 3 trys to get it right. It will work but has to be done exactly right and within a few seconds. Just keep trying, it is worth the wait. You can ditch the seatbely buzzer also, the light comes on and I never drive without mine on except when just moving the truck or backing to a trailer. It would scare the crap out of me backing to a trailer because I thought I was too close. That feature is gone now. I wish I could ditch the bell for the key, that one is a secret that no one knows.

Re: Turning off and on anti theft system

You should be able to pull the ignition cylinder and tape the metal strip to prevent the key dinger. Do a search - takes 5 minutes to do.

Re: Turning off and on anti theft system

Dennis Do a search just like this "de-activating autolocks and seat belt buzzer-help" in the subject only. This was posted on 5/5/04 and gives you the directions for the autolocks and the seat belt buzzer to disable them. I turned off the seat belt buzzer but I am having a hard time getting the autolocks to disable. It says to do it under 30 seconds which is easy. Maybe I am doing it to fast. If you can't find it let me know. I have them printed. They are not in my manual so I thank the person that type them in allowing me to get a copy.
