Unofficial Aftermarket Wheel/Tire Thread

There are so many different directions we can take the Ex from a wheel/stance perspective.

Agressive - i.e. black wheels, offroad tires, protruding out etc. Or just really huge tires on stock wheels.

Classy - Think worthy of country club evening dinner valet. Or transporting customers to lunch. This would be somewhat stock looking, perhaps a 2wd or lowered (for arm candy access) moderate height and brush or perhaps chrome tasteful wheels.

Bling - 22" plus on street tires

I think I plan to be somewhere between the first 2. Need to find that happy medium. But what do these look like and what are some of the best looking wheels on the Excursion. A great way to find out is for everyone to post up pics of their aftermarket wheels/tires.

Be sure to put the sizes and where you got them or where they are currently cheapest.

20x9.5 with Cooper Zeon XST 305/50r20. They were actually on it when I got it, so I can't help with prices. I found out on Saturday that the tires suck in snow and ice (2wd). I think I will keep them until next winter and then look at options that will be better in the snow.

Very nice. I think yours classifies as the "classy" category. Under 22" yet the tires aren't huge either - clean.

So do very few Excursion owners buy aftermarket wheels or tires?

I just put 18x9.5 rims with Toyo 325/60/18s. I need to take pics. This is the rim though....these tires are WIDE, they stick out about 1/2 and inch which is ok. I do have a 3" lift and these tires rub on my mud flaps, I can see where I need to trim them so that can be fixed. The truck does look great, when it stops raining I will get pics, I just put them on yesterday.

I think I can find my old roof racks if you think you need some more..... Is there any hidden meaning to this crazy love of these bars? Those rims look nice too, I thought of these but I was not sure they would fit with the leaf set up.

You can keep your old Excursion crossbars. Mine don't sit directly on and rub the paint like the Excursion crossbars do. Why would I want more? The Excursion came with FOUR crossbars, and that's how many I have. FYI, those are some Explorer crossbars I widened to fit the Excursion's rails. They work well with long loads.

In regard to wheel fit, I did have to use some 2-inch thick spacers.

Are the Centerlines hubcentric?

I was able to get some pics today, the sun was not right but it will do until I can get some real shots. These are Moto Metal 18x9.5 chrome alum rims with 325/60/18 Toyo Open Country tires. I have never had these and they balanced well and are quiet, I was limited in tires with the 325/60 that I wanted, the BFGs were out of this world, way more than they are worth and Cooper did not have the right size, only a 305....pizza cutters compared to the 325s....I did not look at the Nittos and I hear they are a good tire too.
