Re: Water leak somewhere around passenger side rear window?

Some guys think silicone and duct tape are the fix-all for everything. Thank goodness my dealer did it correctly once they found what the problem was. I would have been pissed if they would have just plopped a bunch of silicone on top of mine. ESPECIALLY if I were paying them to do it!

I found my rear cargo area carpet soaked on a couple occasions ('05 EB). I first thought it was a leak, but after not using the rear AC since December, there's been no more moisture in the rear. I pulled and cleaned the carpets, and replaced the padding. I'll take it to the dealer when the weather warms back up ... warm/humid enough that running the AC will create condensate. 81 degrees today, but around 60 tomorrow,

I think what you will find is that they didn't insulate wrap everything that they should. I had the same problem and I got some of that sticky black a/c insulating stuff and fixed it myself.

Yeah I am keeping ym fingers crossed. This is day 5 w/ no truck.

The more i think about it the more hokie that first repair job was. I asked the manager in charge of the service team if he had a $50K truck and the dealership used $10 bucks worth of silicone to fix the leak and charged him $300 three days later and didn't paint it to match if he would be ok with that.

The guy looked me square in the eyes and said "yes I would be happy if it fixed the problem."

Thats when I knew we weren't seeing eye to eye.

He'll get a great review from me.

I'd get in writing that the paint will stick and hold up after the silcone!!!! . One should NEVER use silcone period, especially around vehicles that might or may be re-painted some day. I personally hate the stuff and will never use it, too many other products on the market that are better and not as messy to use or deal with.

JMHO..............

Had a similar thing happen at a Honda dealer. They repainted a rear bumper for me and didn't get the line separation straight between the painted part and the black. I ask the service writer the same qusetion and got the same answer, with the addition that it is quarranteed for a year so if you don't like it bring it back and they will fix it!!! . And they wonder why they don't have happy customers. By the way this wasn't a warranty repair so I footed the whole bill!!

I'm having a similar leak issue. It only leaks when it's raining. I'll have to pull the headliner and try the hose. Is there a common place where they seem to leak, or anywhere along the seam? I will check the seal as well though.

So glad itns no tjust me. It doesnt rain a whol elot in so cal. Occasionally i would notice a littel bit of water drops on inside of right rear window and on top of plastic that covers rear AC. I have looked up top many times and couldnt find anything. Its not tons of water but with other posts its probably a pin hole. If I find it I guess a body shop is in order with some fill and paint.
