What tools in your bag?

I just purchased a 2003 6.0L Excursion. I like to put together a SMALL toolbag to keep in my cars that I use for most general maintenance or emergencies. Anybody already have a list? socket sizes, allen sizes, etc.

Thanks,
Carl

Just make sure it has metric sockets. Except the turbo might be standard...not too sure on a 6.0.

Re: What tools in your bag?

An 03 6.0? Just get a good metric/SAE socket set plus a phillips and flat head screw driver, make sure you get the metric open end adjustable wrench also . Most of the stuff is easy, it is the big stuff that needs good tools. When I travel long distance I carry every tool I have since they will be used for the sled or the bike when I get to the cabin, I have saved myself and countless others, if I see someone on the side of the road I always stop, I carry a 2 ton floor jack and a 4 way lug wrench. The OM crap just folds and with different rims or trailer tires you have to have different lug wrenches. You just can't be too prepared.

Re: What tools in your bag?

If it's a long trip, I carry spare fuel filters. I bring a ratchet, 2 feet of extensions, a 36mm socket, and metric Allen wrenches. If I have the camper, I throw in a 4-way and the floor jack. I also pack a crescent wrench, screwdrivers, and channel locks. Chances are, if you need more than that, you might as well call for a hook. Dont forget a hammer and duct tape.

Re: What tools in your bag?

What about the water drain for the fuel that is on the frame rails? Isn't that a specific size hex wrench?

Re: What tools in your bag?

The filter housing (HCFM) on the frame rail. Yes, also works for old Bug axle nuts

Re: What tools in your bag?

METRIC and SAE sockets, impact wrench, multi bit screw driver, fuel filter, CPS, and various odds and ends(straps, nylon zip ties, tow strap). It is always better to have enough than not enough. With all the room the X has, I have a special storage box that is set up for long hauls.
