What would an 08 Excursion look like?

First off, I am new to the site, but good to be a member.

I was involved in a 10 car/truck pile up and rebuilt my 01 Excursion myself. Here is the finished product.

Thanks. I have enjoyed my Excursion from the day I bought it and wasn't ready to let it go when it was wrecked. Enjoy it even more now. Thanks again.

The new front ends aren't my thing, but if you like it then awesome. Did you swap over the new rear bumper, too? Any plans to swap on the tow mirrors?

Dude...that is so sick! I stinkin' love it!I would love the interior and exterior of the 2008 but keep my 6.0 liter for the better fuel mileage and no DPF! Oh how I love the look of that!

Yes I did swap the rear bumper as well, I thought about the mirrors and they were a "nicety" not a necessity. I may in the future, but I don't tow campers, just a regular single car trailer that you can see the tongue of in the picture.

I usually take pictures of all my projects, but I didn't take any of my truck really. I am disappointed as well. Since the grill attaches to the hood now, I can take pictures with the hood up and you can see almost as much as during the build. I have attached a couple pictures of the day I was in the accident and I can give all the tips and parts that you would need. I had to buy the complete front end from a 2002 F250 to get all the inner components I needed; inner structure cut about midway down the fender, intercooler, condenser, radiator, fan, fan clutch, shroud, coolant reservoir, hood latch, power steering cooler, tranny cooler, battery box, battery tray, batteries, etc. If your truck isn't wrecked, then you have a big head start on me. I had never taken my Excursion or any F250/F350 apart, so I didn't know where things were suppose to be before the wreck, taking the front of the F250 helped me get an idea of where things were suppose to be bolted.

Here is what you will need (MUST have) for the swap:

Hood, fenders, fender emblems (upper and lower, vent is two piece), cowl panels (L&R, where the windshield wipers are), grill, grill supports that bolt to the hood and grill bolts to it (these support the grill from moving horizontally when the hood is down), hood striker for the latch, headlights (L&R), head light plugs (if they are selling them yet), full front bumper with all the brackets, windshield washer nozzles, and the plastic pins that help affix the grill to the hood. You will need some 1/4" threaded rod, thin bar stock angle to make angle brackets, misc bolts and lots of washers available at Home Depot.

My accident happened in September 07, so I had to buy everything from Ford except the passenger fender and the bumpers. There weren't any 08's in salvage yards yet and no aftermarket companies were making 08 parts yet. I finished my truck in December 07 due to about 1 month of insurance estimates and such. I can describe the rebuild process if anyone is interested in the details.

Ive wanted to add the new grill on the front fender to my 01 and have that feed the air intake, did you just cut a hole in your fender or is that a new fender?

The QP grills are recessed so it is more than just cutting a hole, he put and entire front clip from an 08 on, exactly what I would have done in this situation.....but I am not ready to smash my front end to afford it, it had to have beed a few bucks and a lot of work....but it looks great and should get a few conversations started by those who know better and are confused. I have a Peterbilt emblem in place of the Ford oval on the grill and I get all sorts of crazy questions. I had one dude convinced it was a Military truck that was built by PB and had a Cat engine, I didn't even tell him the truth in the end, he left thinking this was true and had to have told friends what he saw. I will do the 05 grill some day, they are $300+ on Ebay so it is an expensive change that need to think about more before I buy. Now if it was still built it may look like this.......I would sell my soul for this Excursion.

yeah I second that current pictures of under the hood etc..do you have to change the radiator support and tilt your rad back like a '08-'09? or will your vertical early radiator setup / support work?
Thanks,
Deo
