What's missing from the 05 Consumer Reports April Auto Edition

They rated every SUV on the planet including the Suburban and Hummer but left out the Excursion. The only place I could find any information was in the repair history section in the very back of the magazine.

Was it just an oversight or intentional? They have never liked the X and the only model I ever saw them rate was the gas job.

Now that's umbiased reporting...

Re: What's missing from the 05 Consumer Reports April Auto Edition

Since it's designed to be a "consumers guide" for research on current products to buy, I can see why they didn't put much effort into it; the Excursion is near the end.

As for previous editions, who knows. Maybe because there really isn't much else to compare it to. With that, if the Excursion fits your needs, chances are nothing else does so why should they spend the effort in testing? I'm sure there are reasons, that's just one idea. I would send a letter to the editor asking why. I always see them posting letters and their responses in the front. I would be interested in knowing the reason as well.

It is listed in CU's separate publication, "SUV's Wagons, Minivans and Trucks". However, I doubt anyone will run out and buy one, based on their review.

Re: What's missing from the 05 Consumer Reports April Auto Edition

Consumer Reports started as and remains an outfit by and for "consumerist," pinko, touchy-feely types, and bases the majority of their opinions on garbage no self-respecting man-type would even look at more than sideways. Just look at their toaster recommendation for instance, and you will see first how many people were shocked by dropping it into the bathtub, and then perhaps how it cooks toast. Anything large and useful will never get any kind of real consideration from these weenies. Forget 'em for anything - ever.
