Where can I find huge fenders. & bumper kits like these
I want to set up an excursion like this! But I cant seem to find out where to get fender & bumper kits like these. Help please. + how much u think there lifted? Any help is appreciated, THANKS
Could you give a link where you found those pics? Maybe you can contact them and find out where the guy got his work done.
Just looking at those tires makes my wallet tired. The rolling resistance on those tires would EAT up the fuel. Mileage would take a SERIOUS nose-dive.

Yes we get a few questions about our trucks, and we are proud of them.
What I have done to my Fords are different things, for the first we have not done anything to prevent water to go in to the transmission or transfer case.
And that has not been any problem, the breathing hose for the differentials we have made them longer so they don’t suck in the water.
I cut the standard bumper and move it a few centimetres to the front, I also cut allot out of the wheel arches and build new fender flares out of fibreglass.
Tire size is in this case 44 inches super swamper, specially made 18 inches wheels, front axle is Dana 60 from solid axle put together here with 10 degree caster angle.
ARB diff locks front and rear, extra transfer case to be able to crawl slowly, 4 link suspension in the front, extra fuel tank so in total it holds 300 liter.
Rear axle is moved 15 centimetres to the back and front axle is moved 4 centimetres to the front, its gives better weight distribution."

Take a look at what I am in the process of doing to mine:
38.5x15.5 tires on 20" rims 5" lift Front flares are cut ins the rears had no cutting at all. The top picture is the 38s. The pictures of the suspension travel actually are using 39.5x15.50 tires. They sure do tuck up inside those wheel wells nice don't you think. Tires that finally fill the wheel well and how the X should have come from the factory in a off road option package IMO. The 38.5 I was told ended up give the best over all performance. Every so slight rub on the leaf spring with the 39.5" at complete steering lock out compressed.
This is exactly what I in the process of with direct help from the owner of this vehicle. BTW this was all done at 12K miles and it know has over 100K with no issues and handles extremely well on and off road. For me it is setup exactly perfect as I do not like high lifts that have the fires way belwo the cab becasue they will not fit in the wheel wells without trimming. Not to mention all the travel you loose by having that limitation. It also has a negative effect on handling as you have a higher center of gravity. Trim only the front wheel wells and add flares with a very modest lift V's/X's Fr and B's/F's rr factory leafs add an Icon 3"-4.5" shackle hangers lift for a total of 5" One thing for sure dual steering stabilizers are a must as are proper shock valving duals up front are a very good idea but singles are fine in the rear. Hmm where have I read that before???
Those other flares in the other post up above are bit to wide for my liking which is a total personal thing. Given these completely cover up 15.5" wide tires and the ones on those X above are running 44"+ x 16"+ tires from what I was told. They are setup specifically to go on the glaciers there in Iceland. I would think they would swallow up typcial 38s.

Is the owner of the vehicle shown a member of this forum?
I think it is interesting that the rear tires are both on the ground even after driving up on the rock.
Maybe my eyeballs did not catch it.... did you say what shocks you are using?
What do you mean when you say "V's/X's Fr and B's/F's rr factory leafs ". Isn't that 4 different spring types?
Cool rig. very nice.

How I took that is if you use V's and B's use a 4.5" lift shackle and if you use X's and F's use a 3" lift shackle ??? And Matt I couldn't make out your Yellow writing in the #7 post above AT ALL. My glasses didn't even help

Yes, yellow, as it turns out, is not a very good highlighter. It says;
build new fender flares out of fibreglass.
That is what they told me in an email I got back from them. They built their own. But then, for the size tires they were using, I guess they had to.

Yes by V/x and B/F I meant either ones for front or rear. With Vs you get what about 1" with X you get 1.5" and with W's you are in between. Now those are the lift increase froma non sagging X spring so its very possible and likely the amounts are much more for total truck height lift.
Yes the guy that owns the truck has been extremely helpful even though he works crazy hours and in winter in Iceland they only get 5 hours max of daylight.
Yes both rear wheals are on the ground which I think is awesome articulation for two solid axles on that truck with a very moderate lift of 5" total. I will have to ask him what shocks they are. I know he had a shop in Iceland do the install.
What I really liked was the durability of this setup as he has 90K+ on this setup with serious regualr off roading time. The other thing of concern was its manners on asphalt. Because its such a moderate lift. In fact the same amount the guys that are the experts of the X seem to think is ideal for best handling etc with 35X12.50. What is great about this is you keep the same lift but by trtimming the front fender well you are able to get 3-4" wider and taller tires. This is keeping about the same ratio of tire height to width and by going with 20" wheels you end up with a very good balance for tire wall height. The only negative and there is no way aorund it is total wheel weight is obviosuly more and you will have to rear gear your axles. If you were running 3.73s like the vast majority of Xs then 4.56 are the perfect upgrade to get your RPMs and shifts back to the same points.
Adjustable track bar is a must obviosuly. Before I go on I have to make one comment. A huge amount of what I have learned about the X and suspesiona nd what it takes to make one handle and tow well came from Caryt. Although I have never spoke with him reading his threads and posts taught me enormous amounts on how to setup a X properly. From springs and shocks etc to how to correct the front end alignment and spindle angles. You know our vehicles are just not suppose to have toe in wheel stances SO thank you very much Caryt. I actually have planned for some time to contact you to get your help and order what I need to get this all done.
I will tell you one thing when it comes to off roading these guys are set. Rocky muddy water snow glacier all but wood areas they got it XXXXXX.
I would think for a setup like the one above some of Caryt custom valved bilstein doubles up front and singles in the rear woudl get you all the articulation and great street handling. The only other choice I would consider at the same level with be the ICON shocks. The Icons are also the only other leafs I woudl put on my truck other than the factory Super duty ones.
What did and still does amaze me with this trucks setup is how well it comes together. Its looks like it was made to be setup this way. From the flares and suspension height with the tires. They match up so perfectly IMO. The tires are not sticking out like most large tires nor are they swallowed up as they woudl look with the bushwacker cut out ones. (I have seen posted a number of times about how the bushwackers seemed to swallow up even 39" and 40" tires making them seem a bit to small for it. I remember reading that one specially from Tank's 250 thread on his build. One of the nicest F250 setups IMO.)
I should have my rims here by next week hopefully Dick Cepek 20x12 DC-1 with black overlay. Still am not 100% sure what I will do for tires yet. Can't decide. It will be 38-38.5 and 14.5-15.5 for sure. Mickey Thompson MTZ, Toyo MT, Pro Comp Xterrain. I may end up going with the ProComps just becasue I can get a great deal on them. If I had my choice with money no object it woudl be Toyo or Mickey's. Also many tires that I woudl have liked to include either stopped at 37 and narrow 12.5-13.5 or for what ever reason jumped from 37 to 40 and 44!?! That seems a bit weird to me.
On those other flares I did some more looking and many of those are running 44-48" 18-20" wide tires. That is xtreme no doubt. I am not after that look. I wanted a look that looked well rounded and not to far to one type of terrain.
I am hoping my 4x4 shop here will have extra sets of leafs from F250-350s or I will hit the salvage yards. After that a call into caryt for everything else. Getting flares from Iceland takes about 2 weeks. Not bad IMO. I working on convincing them to start to advertise on the big 4x4 and truck forums here as I think it is a very good market as they can make anything and type people want. Right now its basically bushwacker or you are SOL unless you are good with fiberglass and forms. If BW was smart they woudl offer there cut outs for the X by using the Super duty front flares they already make nad then offer the rear as a no cut so they would clear the door. The rears really do not need to be cut to allow for tires up to 40x15.50. If you are going bigger than that you likely woudl not have issues getting the rear super duty ones modified for cut outs. Still the Cuts form BW look off road extreme where these look much more OEM. I really like that fact as when people see it they will be trying to figure it out. Everything looks in propertion and has OEM lines but is much more rugged and wheels are correct ratio for the big X.
