Smile 1998 Ford E-350 Transmission Fluid

I own a 1998 Ford E-350 ; 7.3L Diesel. Does anyone know what kind of Transmission fluid goes in my truck, I am planning on a tranny flush before the winter.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Mark,

Somebody once told me, some Fords have tranny fluid that does not a flush. I guess he mentioned the E40D. How do I know what what kind of Tranny I have.

Thanks for your time.

You have either the E4OD or the 4R100. 1998 was when they made the switch, and I don't remember exactly when the trans for the 7.3L changed. It really doesn't matter, the two transmissions are essentially the same. The 4R100 is a bit stronger and has more sensors. The 4R100 is really an improved E4OD.
