4X4 Van Q'ssssss

I'm considering buying a '94 E-350 extended {supervan}
7.3IDI, auto with the intention of changing out the front
end to a Dana 60 and adding a BW T/case behind the E4OD.

Does anyone here have that setup? I know that "Quigley"
does "New" conversions using the TTB which I dont care for.

Any suggestions???????? pro or con, I need to know!
Thanx GEO

Man, Tough crowd! 20 hits and not one {even snide} comment

Surely there has to be one of you with at least a 4X4 van?

C'mon I'm serious here
I build stairs and want to try using a van in place of a pick up. A 4X4 van with a Dana 60 front would be the cats azzzzz

Re: 4X4 Van Q'ssssss

GEORGE

I have a x-tended 4x4 van. It has the dana 60. I at some time are going to post all the part's needed to do the conversion with ford part #'s. I dont know what you mean by using the TTB.

Maybe Tony (7UP) can list the parts due to he just got the list.

Come on Tony list it.

About the conversion all pro's no cons

Re: 4X4 Van Q'ssssss

I let Quigley do my 4x4; but I did run across this website recently, some interesting "do-it-yourself" 4x4 van conversion stuff. Good luck & let us know how it goes.

Re: 4X4 Van Q'ssssss

Quigley uses a Dana 60 with the factory coil springs on an E350. Prior to approximately 1997 they used the D44, but the D60 was an optional (<$500) upgrade for the E250 and the E350. Their system is just like what is on a Dodge pickup truck or a Jeep Cherokee/ Grande Cherokee, with a little less suspension travel. They have made some (minor???)changes for 2003 but I don't know what they are. Tony

Re: 4X4 Van Q'ssssss

Thanx for the replys
I guess there isn't the volume of posting here as much as the IDI page

madvan, the TTB is what FORK puts under the F250 and they are a bear to keep aligned. If you ever lurk in my neck of this site, do a search on "death wobble" and you will understand. Besides if I'm going to the expense of a 4X4 conversion the Dana 60 is the only way
Do you have the BW1345 t/case? that seems to be the popular choice with FORK.

ACE, you the same over at "diesel central"

Re: 4X4 Van Q'ssssss

I think the reason for any lack of replies is that most of us have HAD these conversions done for us, rather than doing them ourselves. Other than that, there are a lot of other things we HAVE done.....

Re: 4X4 Van Q'ssssss

ACE, have you looked here-http://www.teraflex.biz/
for your next rear? I see in your sig that you want to upgrade. Why be limited by the weight/ gear selection of the 80 when these are available
If the link takes you to the main page, just click on the
"Tera 60R high clearance" They can be set up any way you wish, including 4 link, ladders, etc....... GEO

Re: 4X4 Van Q'ssssss

funny, I was just thinking about doing one of these myself. I have a dodge 4 door 4x4 in the back yard that needs a new cab, the roof is rusted out. It would be nice to have that D60 under the front of the van.

would you keep the coils or go to leaf springs?

All Dana 60 front ends have leaf springs. Thats one of the advantages

Well I saw that and if you could use the coils I can keep the air bags, and you would think it would make installing it easier..

Re: 4X4 Van Q'ssssss

George,
I dont know if i can help you but lets see, there are three pages with 138 part numbers which it looks like it has to do with screws,washers,brackets,ect.,ect.,ect.and nothing about the transfer case they use or the frame which i think is a Quigley exclusive custom part.

Re: 4X4 Van Q'ssssss

GEORGE

My van has the BW1345 transfer case. High gear is 1 to 1 and low gear is 2.69 to 1. The dana 30 is standard in a quig conversion unless its a diesel then its standard. The 60 is an upgrade for gas vans. I like the coilover setup better than the leaf setup.
