Not really. Actually, it seems like they bent over backwards to make the diesel van for those of us who wouldn't settle for a gas engine. It is a VERRRRRY tight fit, and they had a difficult time getting it in there.......but, they did it just for us!

So long as you mean, by invoking "us", we fleet purchasing agents responsible for procuring airport shuttle buses, ambulances, and other commercial vehicles requiring the short wheelbase of E-series cutaway chassis and diesel power.

When was the last time you saw an ambulance in the U.S. that wasn't a F**d?

Re: 6.0 vs 7.3?

It is so true, so darn true....

When you stop to consider all of the wonderful applications that lend themselves to a diesel van configuration.....EMS, small load mass transportation, military vehicles, shuttle bus, small package delivery, RV campers, etc etc.

The market is there just waiting for someone to recognize it. What does F**d do?? Treat us like dirt. They won't even spend a nominal amount of energy making things better for the diesel application in the van. I could sit down with a couple of F**d engineers and tell them some things that would really improve the E350/450 series.

Sadly, they will never ask us. They probably don't even look at this forum.

Re: 6.0 vs 7.3?

i think when the switch to the 6.4 in 07 or so occurs , the vanners will left only with left over 6.0 s and used 7.3 s.

was at dealer for some issues with the egr sooting up, had the dead pedal sydrome with a poof of smoke symtoms... then a trip back today to tighten up all the exhaust stuff left loose for the egr work.

the performance of the 6.0 is better than the 7.3. for a van she sure does fly. i ve had 3 7.3's and 1 6.0.....

my commuting mpg is about 16.5 @ average of 75 up the parkway.

Re: 6.0 vs 7.3?

I know of a couple of 7.3 Vans that will drop a 6.0 truck with an edge and juice set up
