96 E350 Electrical issues.

Hey all,

Been reading for a couple months now, but just making my first post now. Love this board, tons of great info!

Anyway, I have a 96 Club Wagon XLT that just recently started having some electrical issues. When pulling into a restaurant a couple of Friday nights ago the dome/interior lights inside just stopped working. I looked at the manual and pulled the fuse to find one burnt out. I had a lot of trouble figuring out the diagram exactly (still not sure...) and the fuse for the radio etc keeps burning out whenever I try and put on the map light after replacing the 15A fuse for the radio and that.

I'm not the greatest with mechanical issues, but I do know how to use a meter so I can test anything I can get access to. Any ideas of where to start?

Thanks.

Sounds like you got a nice short going on there. If the radio is not stock, I would start there. The radio will have a wire connected to the lighting circuit as well so that it lights when the lights are on. Good luck, wiring in vehicles sucks to trace. Check for loose ground wires under the dash too.
