anybody added the passenger side assist handle?

..to a '99?

Are the holes there already? Will it fit at all? does it really help?

My wife is 5'7" and sometimes needs a little help climbing into the van, so I thought the assist handle might be a good thing. Besides, it's cheeper than running boards.

Re: anybody added the passenger side assist handle?

Hi Tom,

Don't add the assist handle to your 99 van. The 99 does not have the strength in the A pillar to deal with the stress of the handle. If you put a handle on the 99 pillar it will end up cracking your windshield. There are major changes to the structure to incorporate the handle.

I don't think it's cheaper but it's cooler than running boards. You could get those automatic door steps that fold out when the door is open, when the door is closed they fold up under the van, i always though those were cool.

Hey FastDEW!

Nice to hear from you!

Thanks very much for the heads up! A cracked windshield is not what I need right now!

Cheers!!!!
