Auto Trans Question

I have a 1993 E350 cutaway DRW with an auto trans that is fairly new (15K miles). Coming to work this morning, at about 55 mph, the trans seemed to go into a neutral. I slowed up thinking I had lost the transmission and it cleared up and was fine all the way to work - maybe another 10 miles. I checked the fluid (I had it changed at a Ford dealer last year) and if anything, it look like it had too much fluid. It was above the full mark when the trans was near operating temp. I have driven it for a year like it is.

Any ideas?

Ray

Have checked the manual (93) E40D, it inducates that your over full condition is a good answer, they suggest drain it down to correct level.
Might suggest a chat with dealer maybe he would like to drain it!!!!!

Re: Auto Trans Question

Are you sure it just didn't drop down a gear? That seems to be more of a common problem than it shifting into neutral.

Re: Auto Trans Question

That's what I thought at first, but I could if I gave it any gas, it would rev just like the trans was slipping. I pulled over in case it was dead, and tried again and it shifted fine and I took it back up and it did not do it again.
