Banks Turbo System

Has anyone tried putting the banks turbo on their van. I want to do this, but when i went to a local diesel mechanic i asked him how much it would be and just flat out said.. "that's impossible, they don't fit in the vans, there isn't enough room." So i was like...okayyy... but i looked on the banks website and it says they make them for the van. So i'm just wondering if anyone knows for sure, i would sure like to have it. I have the 7.3 non PSD, E-350, 1992.

Re: Banks Turbo System

Where on the Banks site does it say they make anything for the vans? I talked to them at PRI this weekend and they said they still have no intentions of making parts for the vans.

BTW, changing a turbo on a van is WAY easier than on an F-series. Once you pull the doghouse, it's RIGHT there, and there's no intercooler tubing to deal with either.

Re: Banks Turbo System

It says on the banks site:

F-250, F-350 & F-450 PICKUP/VAN/CLASS-C MOTORHOME: The ultimate upgrade for classic diesels is a Sidewinder turbocharging system. Banks wastegated Sidewinder turbo unleashes gains up to +82 hp and +143 lb-ft torque. You'll hardly recognize Ol' Betsy: with Banks' turbocharging technology onboard, she'll tow up the grade 53% quicker, and provide up to a phenomenal 29% fuel economy improvement at that. No smoke!

that's for the 89-93 models

http://www.bankspower.com/app.cfm?appid=AF04

there's the link...

So I dunno who you talked to, but either they are right, or this site is right, still does anyone know for a fact???

Don't know if you got your answer on your banks turbo system. Just wanted to let you know that I have it on my 91 E-350 7.3idi Motorhome and it works great just took it on a trip to Yellowstone from NJ and had no trouble the hills.

Re: Banks Turbo System

Yeah, the guys called me from Banks and he said they sell it for the vans and all, it just takes a little longer to install and they also don't have a waste gate i guess.. but still, at least they make it. And thanks for other responses.
