I replaced mine with a 2" OD piece of ABS plumbing pipe with cap glued to it . . . You can use PVC. Or give me your address and I'll ship you mine for about 20-30 bucks . I's a piece of crap . Some idiot engineer decided it was a good way to "eliminate droan /noise ' I like the noise. It costs about 2 bucks in pipe . For 10 bucks I'll mail you one like mine . . .

Yeah, it's an intake silencer from what I understand.

It is just in the way every time I work on one of my vans,
so they get taken off ONCE, and then thrown in a cabinet.

I have a stack of them, and a stack of heat shields from over the turbo...

The PVC idea is a good one.
I happen to use an oil additive that comes in a small metal can,
that just happens to be the same diameter as the hole in the air inlet tube.

So I just take one of these empty metal cans and put them in the hole,
then clamp in place with a hose clamp.
I just make sure the can is not pushed in far enough to disrupt air flow.

That said, I think I like the plastic pipe idea... probably about 4 bux in materials.

I just used the pvc cap itself. It was tight, but it went in. Closed end flush with the inside of the tube.
