Blue smoke......

During a burn out (competition) last weekend a big bang (like blowing a tire)came from under hood.... Idle got crappy like running on 7? and tons of blue smoke from the exhaust. Let it cool down for a short time and fired it up again. Voila - idle's fine and no more blue smoke, so i hit the track again
However- the last couple of days i've noticed a litle blue cloud from the tail when going off the fun pedal. I've checked the oil level and it clearly consumes a litle.... Idle's just fine, and motor's pulling strong as usual. Can this somehow be injector related? Or turbo? (Boost# normal - 32-35psi)
Ideas most welcome

Re: Blue smoke......

loud bangs tend to point to broken parts. Might want to see if you can have a compression check done.... Blue smoke at the tail pipe indicates oil is being burned in the combustion chamber. It is either coming in from the rings (piston) or the valves (guides, broken spring, stuck valve). The comp check will find any of these problems. I would think that turbo related would sound really loud in a van as the turbo is right next to the driver.....
just some thoughts.

Re: Blue smoke......

Had a compression check this morning. All of them is 480-500psi except of #6 being 420psi. The tech says that's normal / ok.

Re: Blue smoke......

This is why intake is so important in our vans. As soon as you turn up the power a little the stock configuration just doesn't cut it. Good luck with the fix. Glad that is all it was. Did Van eat any of the filter?

No, I don't think so. The filter blew open all the way from front to back... It doesn't look like any parts missing
BTW This was one of my AFE pro guard7 filters!!!

Re: Blue smoke......

Did you figure out why it flamed in the intake?
Maybe it was valve float?

I have no clue, but maybe you're into something.
All i know is that it was not related to propane. (Not alowed in the competition - even had to remove the tank..)

Re: Blue smoke......

Was thinking float. Due to filter blew outwards.
Flame could have been chasing the air with all the fuel.
Just a WAG.
