boost connection search

I've done a search, and quite a few report problems with connecting the boost line to the map line. Is that engine specific, gauge specific, or just luck of the draw? Is there another place to connect w/o elbow tapping?

On the 7.3 the Map line is the right place. The only thing I have read about was sealing issues at the guage by not using T tape. Since Vans with 7.3's have no wastegate it makes sense to use the Map line.
