Cargo to passenger-> seat belts attachment?

HI,
I have a 93 E250 Cargo that I would like to install a 2nd row seat. If I don't find an Econoline bench seat, I may adapt one from another vehicle.

My concern is about the seatbelts. The shoulder belts should attach to the upper part (horizontal framing) near the roof. I see that there is aleady a ~3/4" hole in there. Is there something from Ford that I can retrofit in there that will be safe and secure to attach the shoulder belts?
And about the lap belts, if the seat is securely attached to the floor with back plates, can I bolt the lap belts to the seat frame?

Thanks.

Here are some pictures of the holes inside my van:
Hole L1 seems to be the most appropriate to use, but on the right side, there is no hole in line with it, only inline with the L2 hole. Should the belts be mounted using holes L2 and R2 or L1 and R2?

What you have labelled as "R2" is actually "R1".

Because of the door, the right side 2nd row belt mount is much further back than the left side. In the Wagon, there is a small hook above the door to stow the seatbelt on when not being used.

And yes, you can attach seatbelt directly to the seats. That's now Ford does it.

In case you are wondering...

3-point seatbelts must have anchors good for 3,000 pounds each (per FMVSS).
2-point seatbelts must have anchors good for 5,000 pounds each.

Just mount the seats with a large 1/4 backing plate, and you will be good.

BTW - Not all conversion van seats are actually FMVSS compliant, because they don't have to be. So if you want seat mounted belts, then I recommend sticking with some Ford take outs.

Here is looking back at row 3 in my van. You can see the 2nd row belt in stow position:

And here's the side view:

And towards the front:

This is the only pic of the left side I have (yes, that's 4,000 pounds of concrete in the back):

Ford makes threaded plates that can be installed from the backside. They recommend riveting them in.
Likely the plate is the same as the one they normally spot weld into positions that get belts.
I made my own for my van and used seatbelts from a club wagon in the same locations. Mine I made with 1/8" thick steel cut in a rectangle shape(forget the outer dims,) I drilled 4 holes for rivets, 1 hole in the center for the pivot/mounting bolt, and welded a 7/16-20 nut on the backside.
It was somewhat of a pain as the driver side upper had to be fished in with a wire.

Check the literature at this link, I found the info there somewhere.
I tried having the local dealer lookup the parts, but as usual they couldn't find anything on the first try and really didn't want to help. So I gave up on them and made my own.

Hey Carring. Are you seats factory or did you install seperate? Looks like all captain seats like the drivers seat.

Yup, seats are all reclining captains chairs (14 of them).

They were done by CVCandMore in Southern California. The vanpool fleets (Enterprise and others) use CVC. Unfortunately their website seems to be Out of Order.

Thanks, they look awesome. I bought a new pair for the front for 250 bucks. I would love to add more to the back like you have. Mine is a 12 seater but I would settle on a 10 seater for comfort. What is needed to mount them to floor?

Also, if I need to use van as a cargo like I do often, is it easy to remove the captain chairs? The bench seats are a pain and my back always tell me to use two people.
Thanks, Dann
