Has anyone used a Cen-Tech OBD II CODE READER? Everyone around here charges 40-45 bucks to pull the codes and this one is just $49.99 + shipping. Just want to know if its any good and does it pull all the codes

I just bought the 94217 model from Harbor Frieght this afternoon. No good on a 97 diesel. For a week or so my tranny has gone into safe mode and threw a code but the Cen-Tech said there weren't any codes to pull.
I'm giving up yet though. I'm trying to Cen-Tech site to see if there are any updates.
As a note this model was $149 normally but it is $89 until the 25th of Sept.
I didn't notice what model truck you have but it may work on the newer ones.
Good luck with whatever you get.

Seems to be a rash of sick transmissions lately...

I'm having tranny issues too (O/D OFF light blinking) and my ScanGauge OBD scanner is not reading any fault codes either. I'm not sure, but I think that the "generic" OBD scanners like the ScanGauge and the Cen-Techs and others will only access the Engine Controller for trouble codes. The only diagnostic sacnners I've seen (outside of the dealer) that access Trans Controllers and other modules are the PC based ones that run on a laptop or handheld PDA.

I'm interested to hear what you find out about the Cen-Tech scanner.
