Check Rear Axle Endplay
One of the service points at 30,000 is a check of rear axle end play.
I have the shop manual on CD and cannot find the procedure.
The one example I found is part of a rear differential assembly process using dummy bearings, removal and reinstallation of shims, etc.
When I take my van in to the local F**D folks for the 30K service, how are they going to check rear axle end play?
The reason I ask is that I might clean forget to take it in and end up doing the entire 30K service myself.
I have a nice set of dial indicators with a good magnet. Can you just remove the calipers and check it by hand. It doesn't say backlash or runout........just end play.
I guess I'm asking mainly for numbers. It must develop some acceptable slop over the first 30K miles
Thanks in advance,
Yardbrew
