I thought about trying to assemble it myself, and still may, but I doubt it. A friend says he knows a tranny expert that will do it for a couple hundred.

EDIT: hmmm......won't let me link to the site that has step by step rebuild writeup written by racerx

Bill has good kits.
You can tackle the job. Its more of a check, recheck things first time around.
Also he will help with questions. Good deal in my book.

No linky= Site Competition is the reason

Bill

Does Bill=Madvan=Racer X?

Edit-I guess you just have the same first name. Your transmission cure link had me wondering, though.

I have never been through an auto trans, or a manual for that matter. Maybe I will give it a try. It is quite a ways away before I need the trans.

And why the heck isn't there a drain plug on my trans pan???? When the trans does get rebuilt, what are the options to have a drain provision? Easiest would be just to weld a bung to the stock pan?

I finally figured out the "competing site", and that quite a writeup! I'm going to be in the market for a new transmission around summertime (as part of the 4x4 conversion), and I was considering a John Wood transmission. Unfortunately, its out of my price range. I might start researching places that would be willing to put the kit together for me.

Dann..........PULEEEEEEZE start a new thread of your own instead of trying to hijack (and doing an mpressive job of it BTW ) this one.
Trying to follow 2 different topics in one thread is a rather sizeable pain in the butt!

I want to follow your progress as well as the compound turbo job that this one is actually about............just not in the same thread!!!!!!

Ok RPM, I will Pm you when I have info. I think we can get a lot done on this thread, new uncharted waters. I will get you all the pics that you are interested in and show you the progress good or bad. I think we can get the stalemate out of the closet as far as vans are concerned. There isn't much of big improvement for a long time in this area. Iam so interested in the compound turbo setup and I think that a lot can be done not just in that area but other areas as well. Like I said before, we need to think outside the box. Others as well as me read a lot and wait for others to test and make results. I think we can do wonders with a little ingenuity. I will keep you posted via PM.
Dann

Hey, no offense taken. I will share with all what I gain or not gain. Everyone has been helpful on this site for yrs and I have no problem inputing also. I just got wound up with some new ideas and was hoping we are on a roll with the vans. Not much has really been offered for mods and we already have about 100 hp less than the f-series.
