E-Series VansTechnical discussion of topics related to vans powered by any of the Navistar engines. This covers a broad number of years, but there isn't enough demand to split it any further.
575+ sounds all good and well, but what kinda torque #s are you tinking??? That's what I'd like to see.
Not sure. Guessing around 900-1000? Swamps is pretty good at keeping the torque down to keep engines together. There are several 600+ horse stock engines out there with swamps tuning.
Thanks Blag. I made a few tweaks from the pictures and it fits real well now. I also took that top piece off and put on another one with a big hole cut in it to see how it fits from the inside. It's tight to the downpipe and wastegate tube so I have to add some bulges in those spots. Still have to fill in the top front, then get it tigged up. Screw holes will get welded and ground smooth. Also need to add some kind of cupholders and laptop mount.
nice work looks like progress i was wondering whaat happened to your project you might want some insultaion in that bad ass motor cover for knocking down the sound , but im sure you no that , i cant wait to see the finished unit

Unfortunately no. Time and money...... Still need to finish the doghouse, get the wastegate flange welded on 38r, fab the dump tube, make some sort of box to mount an air filter under the van, run the oil lines for the 47, get the water pump, heat exchanger, and reservoir for the a/w, get everything welded up. So close yet so far away. Probably gonna add another a/w for the second stage, but I can do that down the road. I'd love to get it done before the track closes, but its not looking good at this point.
A little more progress. Got a fuelab pump and made a bracket out of aluminum.
Also picked up a fuel tank. Not sure if I will just do a 5/8 pickup or sump it. I will also shorten it to make room for a transfer case.
26x7x3.5" heat exchanger for the air/water cooler fits well inside the front bumper. Need to get some ears welded on and I can use factory drilled holes to mount it.
This thing WILL be up and running by spring!!! As long as it doesnt break on the dyno getting tuned.
Ha! I'm not 100% sure I am going to convert to 4wd. But I do have front/rear axles and a transfer case. I imagine they will find their way into the van someday....
